Many of them cling to the idea that sexuality is a choice because it's the only way they can justify disagreeing with it. If they accepted that sexuality is an innate quality, they would have to come to terms with the fact that they are being bigoted. Of course they never consider the implications of this. I honestly think most people who think it is a choice are just closet bisexuals. They assume that everyone else is also attracted to both genders but just chooses to act on their attraction to one while suppressing their attraction for the other. This is why a lot of anti-gay religious people talk about homosexuality as if it's a "temptation" that must be resisted. Of course someone who is 100% straight or gay pretty easily understands how preposterous the idea of sexuality being a "choice" is

My son came out to me when he was 12. That's my baby and I told him love is love, but I felt compelled to warn him about public affection due to those who would be cruel about it and could harm him or his loved one. These are truly sad times. He will always be allowed to show affection towards the one he love in my home no matter the gender. I have a sister who has never beem with a man before and I will never love her any less. Just let people be and love one another....the world needs more of that now more than ever.

When I was 16, I had my first and only boyfriend (so far), and when we were in public, he wasn't afraid to hold hands or show affection, and didn't care what other people thought. I, on the other hand, was very wary of what other people thought of us. Every time we held hands, I felt everyone staring at us, judging us, disapproving of our relationship, and because of that, I couldn't bring myself to hold hands with him in public because it made me feel exposed and judged. I felt awful because I wanted to hold hands with him, but I just couldn't. I don't know if this is felt as much or as extremely by straight couples, but it feels like it was because we were two males holding hands that it caused people to stare.

@jdk and yet here you are judging whether or not someone is a Christian based on how they choose to follow Christ , i would tell you to reevaluate from the same stand point but then i would make the same mistake , instead i would say as a Christian we arent meant to judge but if you do it doesn't necessarily make you less of one , and God didn't come down and write the Bible with his holy hand , it was written by many men throughout the ages , it's a collection of different writings from people who attempted to translate God's divine message not to mention also translated through several languages , things get lost in translation especially divine translation , God is not a book regardless of how many "religious" authorities and priests tell you otherwise , God is here in the world around us he's the love that connects us all , we all follow God throughout our day to day in our own way there's no proper way to follow or believe , and another thing that would make the bible not necessarily word for word is it was written by men , and the minds of men corrupt whatever it is they touch with their own tastes and distastes , we have free will God couldn't of forced such "profits" and men to collect and write all the proper things , and in fact he intended it in this way , why? like all the bad there is , it is a test , perhaps one of the greatest tests there is for authorities throughout time kings/queens, popes , priests, etc. have told the people that we must follow and do exactly as said by them and the book and to be mindless , God gave us our heads and our free will , i think he would want us to use it , not to mention have you ever wondered just how exactly the king james version of the bible and just in general the bible came to be the most popular book in history , it managed this because leaders/authorities throughout history had it be mass printed to be spread and given to their citizens and beyond , and it more than likely wasn't out of the kindness of their heart , for they knew that if the people thought they held the same beliefs as them (the leaders) the people would be more likely to not be unruly and people who hold the same supposed beliefs would be much more likely to be willing to join these leaders and to follow the rules of their societies that reflect those in the book , they recognized that religion/christianity was the most powerful tool , for it allowed them to create a identity that held ideologies/predispositions so they could manipulate and divide and conquer people much more effectively, which is why they may have pitted identities against one another , if we're too busy fighting amongst ourselves we won't realize the true problem of the authority and what not , being a Christian is about following Christ , and yet for some reason many of the people who call themselves christians follow much of the old testament / homophobic texts from it even though it comes directly from Judaism , to follow Christ would be to follow his teachings not Judaism , it doesn't necessarily make you not a Christian if you do , but either way you would be follow not only Christ but also Judaism , i hope you took the time to read this open mindedly
@SuperstitiousWolf3 жыл бұрын
first i want to state that i am not here talking to you and arguing for the sake of arguing or to attack you , you are not my enemy , i just simply think the world could do with a little less hate , i would agree that that is a very highly misinterpreted piece of the bible , just in the opposite way , i literally already addressed this right at the beginning of my comment: "and yet here you are judging whether or not someone is Christian based on how they choose to follow Christ" , it's not that we can't judge , it's that as based on Christ's teachings we are not to judge "how" Christian someone is or whether or not they are Christian enough, whether or not someone goes to heaven or hell or of God is for God to judge , we are not fit to discern sin , i never stated you weren't christian or that you aren't christian enough , i said i didn't want to make the same mistake as you in that light , i hope you understand that now , and based off of what i just said i didn't contradict myself by speaking to my interpretation of how i think the point of Christ is , it is a logical fallacy to state that it is unfounded as to whether or not the bible is inerrant , for what are you basing that off of? who has not founded that it isn't inerrant , the authorities of church's / kings / priests / world leaders / people speaking from a place of authority in general ? an supposed authority's statement for or against something is not unquestionably or irrefutable just because popes throughout time have declared that God speaks through them/they as well as certain kings/queens/world leaders that fall in line are divine does not mean it is true , to believe such a thing/anything from someone just because they said God wants it i would say is blind as well as foolish , keep in mind in the bible it states to be weary of "false profits" , false profits aren't so cut and dry all the time , people in power throughout time have used religion such as Christianity and the bible to control people like you and me by instilling not only a sense of purpose that benefits such people in power/powerful entities but also fear , a fear of punishment either by them or by telling people that if they don't follow exactly what they say they will burn for eternity by the eternal flame , that eternal flame of what we call hell is what blinds people from faith , faith is more than fear/judgement it is believing in something beyond yourself , not because you fear it or because you think you have to but because you believe in something more , to say that questioning the bible and such things are "heresy" only promotes such fear and hate , i would say the bible being written by men has a lot to do with it's accuracy not only taking into account actual translations but more so people who have free will writing these supposed prophetic messages and what God told them to write as they would have everyone believe , many of them did write what God's message is and they as prophets took in God's messages of the world around them , as we can do today as well , once again God is not the book , the book is only a attempted recording of him and Christ's teachings , it is also a logical fallacy to compare the accuracy based off of man written/history textbooks , for not only did you assume that i think they are accurate completely but also as if something as abstract as God and his message , something , that is literally beyond our world is the same as human world history , secondly i never said i don't "believe the bible" i just won't necessarily take everything as is word for word , it wasn't written by God , and i do question our manmade books of history/etc. quite a bit because there is most definitely inaccuracies and propaganda/illusions of fact and fiction , this occurs in all works and subjects that humans touch , for we have subjectivity on top of our "objective" reality , anything that men touch becomes corrupted by our own tastes/distates , just as especially the idea of something so beyond us would be , God gave us free will and minds of our own for a reason , God may very well have given many if not all of the profits his message but he could not force any one of them to do or write anything or better yet he chose not to because he chose to give us our own free will . so many of the people called profits very well could've written and chose to say whatever they wanted , and to corrupt the collection of supposed prophetic texts with their own tastes and distates/ideologies/opinions/fears/hate , why would God know of this happening as do nothing to stop it? as i said before the same reason anything bad or anything against God occurs , the reason he puts us through hardship , to test us , and this i believe may very well be one of the greatest tests there is for it tests people , if even when in the face of adversity of others/believers and if even in the face of being told that "this is what God wants" and if even especially in the face of the blinding eternal flame and fear whether or not we can stay true to the love that God has and shared , whether or not we can stay true to ourselved and believing in something beyond us more than a fear of the eternal flame that blinds and instead see the light that comes with true faith , light is what allows us to see , and i do not deny that the bible carries truth and truth of his message or whether or not the bible has truth i only state that i remain weary of false profits and hate that has been perpetuated and corrupted these collections of texts
@SuperstitiousWolf3 жыл бұрын
and yes in my own words , being a Christian is about following Christ , Jesus may have endorsed some quotes of the old testament but he didn't endorse all of it , such as anything regarding whether or not being gay was a sin , if it were true that he wanted the old testament to be fully recognized and followed by people blindly it would only contradict many of his teachings such as what he taught with the woman who was to be stoned for her sin of adultery when he asked the men whether or not they were free of sin , the teaching to not judge how Christian someone is or to not judge/discern sin and punishment to others , as well as to treat love thy neighbor as thyself , for many passages and writings of judaism promote the opposite of such teachings and promot death for such things , and people wouldn't be allowed to do something as simple as eating shrimp too haha I would agree that distorting the truth of Christ is horrible and corrupting thing of society , it is a cancer , i just would point to what truly is the corruption of Christ's message , hate and fear/tastes of men from such things are what have corrupted it , you act as though anyone today can do such a thing and yet as if people then couldn't/didn't either , i would say it is a sad and hateful thing to use Christ and Christianity as a tool in politics and to corrupt it with ones politics which is exactly what has occurred time and time again throughout history by people in power to control people and to keep us from being unruly by putting us against one another , as those in power or with influence do today , he never said it was a sin to be gay or endorsed anything from judaism that did , once again i will say this , God gave us free will , the bible was written by men with free will of many years , the bible is a collection of texts that people chose to write and to put together , these texts were corrupted by people with not so loving motives , corrupted by fear and hate , the reason for this is as a test for us on our following and belief of Christ , it's not about being "progressive" , i lean towards the right in most politics yet religion and politics should remain separate as much as it can , it is not about being "progressive" to be against hate/corruption , it's about just being Christian and following Christ , God gave us our free will and minds he would want us to use them , and btw it would seem as though you completely ignored the vast majority of what i said and chose to only focus on me talking about judgement while still ignoring most of my message about that and about the accuracy of the bible based on men writing it , which you also ignored the majority of what i said there , and you failed to grasp what i was saying which was that men having written it with free will meant that they were free to and did choose to corrupt it with their own subjectivity of tastes/distates/fear/hate/etc. and if you would've understood that you would've known that i would believe the same thing for anything that is written/touched by men as well as that timing as well as matchings/coherence does not matter in relation to men corrupting something with tastes/distastes not to mention we're talking about things like how texts in the bible talk about "sexual immorality" and gays and what not which the collections of texts from different places and from different times were not coherent to eachother in the sense that they were all talking about how being gay is a sin as if that's something the bible was souly about lol hate and fear i would say is a corruption of not only Christ but society as well , and you think that by being hateful in such a way is going against the current chaos and cancer of society , where in reality you're only supporting it by doing so as you fall into the hands of those in power and choose to allow yourself to be pitted against other people against "thy neighbor's" and to hate , our society and the world is in chaos because of people allowing themselves to be controlled in such a way of identity politics where for some reason "identity" labels matter to the point of hating and hurting eachother , those that you would call "progressive" who are enthralled in identity politics from the sense of attacking people such as Christians are no different from those who are enthralled in it in the same way of hate except toward gays and others on the other end , anyways i hope you can see that God wouldn't want us to hate one another , we are not enemies , people are not enemies in such a way , we should love sorry for the huge text btw

@@jjmccarthy1 No, you cannot decide sexuality. Think about it this way, if being gay was was the social norm and you, as a straight person, knowing you were attracted to the opposite sex were being forced to marry/sleep with the same sex. How would you feel? Weird and uncomfortable right? No matter how much you try to tell yourself that the same sex is romantically attractive you wouldn't be able to think of them that way. Now take that concept and reverse it.

I think the second guy might actually be the worst! He is totally judging them by saying: they will have to answer for it one day. And later: if we bully them, we aren't any better. Implying there is something wrong with them. Read the Bible in the right context (not just quoting little bits of a wrongly translated verse from Leviticus) and you will find out it says nothing against homosexuality.
