Doc here: neither the nose strips or Vix vapour rub (also designed to open the nasal passages) work to increase aerobic performance because you only breathe through your nose _at rest._ On exertion however, you breathe through your _mouth,_ so opening the nasal passages doesn’t make any difference.

In sports there are three ‘stages’ of breathing: in through nose, out through nose; in through nose, out through mouth; in through mouth, out through mouth. As it’s the general consensus that breathing through the nose is the most beneficial, they’d want to maximise that. Just because you’re exerted doesn’t mean you go straight to mouth breathing. Moreover, when was the last time you saw a professional distance runner breathing through their mouth? You can put things in italics all you want, you’re still talking utter nonsense 😂.

It does obviously help, the video is saying it just wont help a profesional athlete as their breathing, due to the running and prolonged physical activity, is already top notch. These are very good for kids with breathing problems as well, or kids that practice sports, helps deal with things that may someday become an issue.

Well the product DOES open up the nasal passages, *especially* if one has a deviated septum/structural damage. It has also been shown to help with snoring. However yes I agree the rampant willingness to jump onto the latest fad of sportswear “medicine” is concerning and all too common.
