All and all this just shows that clubs that put a heavy emphasis on their scouting and talent developement will end up overtaking some clubs that go the usual route. The fact that clubs like Benfica have managed to make in the last 10 years almost 450m euros profit just from transfers is astounding and i use Benfica mainly because i have a personal experience with their scouts. I live in Greece and my best mate is a footballer and is a proffesional (18 years old just started in the 3rd division), 2 years ago when he was 16 and was still in the academy of a team in the 2 division of the national league some Benfica guys came in and basicly set up a 14 day trip for 20+ youngsters ages 13-18 to come to Benfica's training facilities in Portugal , from what he heard and also been told Benfica does this on the regular all over europe and usually there is a contract made regarding the trip that also includes a clause were Benfica can request players to individually go for 2nd or 3rd trials there. I dont write this to praise Benficas or any clubs talent developement plan but since i got the story might aswell use it for extra context to what i mean cause in a world where most clubs are gonna be selling their assets one by one to try and stay ahead some clubs are just gonna come around and take their place with an already talented line up plus all the extra money they got as profit , either that or you are PSG, Newcastle or Man City and your owners do sports washing so they are forced to spend now that they started but who cares they got infinite money.

Thing is such route to economic success is major gamble though. True it is cheaper to acquire talent early and the earlier the cheaper the acquisition. but it is also riskier, how many of those youngster will be worth anything 10 years from now (which of course also assume your team can sustain said costs for 10 years). Big buck talent cost cost so much because it is certain, everybody knows those players are good, you're paying for what you get...

Also, those same companies will approach clubs that sell players and offer them instant money for a fee. For example club sells a player for 50m euros. But ofc it's not an instant 50m euros, but in few installments, so financial company will offer for example 45m euros in cash, and they take over those 50m in installments.

The big problem is that so long as this sort of conduct is allowed some teams can spend billions whilst others struggle to find talented players. Real Madrid are a great example. They have contained a lot of their spending due to the heavy investment into a new stadium. But now they have to seriously think about overspending or they will fall behind other big European clubs.

@@T.E.S.S. Their net spending is one of the lowest in the past 10 years. Bellingham is a bit of an exception for an expensive signing lately but I would argue he is talented enough to warrant that price tag. If you see what RM have been doing they have had to resort to intensive scouting in South America to bring future talent (Vinicius, Valverde) or bring future talents (Camavinga?). They have been very cautious not to overspend due to the significant expense of the new stadium.

Unsustainable… the clubs trying to make profit whilst still able to compete will do very well if the bubble bursts. Even oil money want a return on their investment, they’re just more patient and see the direction of football, higher and higher TV rights mixed with exclusive deals like club streaming games. But then, ultimately, will the bubble ever burst… surely any “debt” of that size just gets passed on to the fans.

Most big clubs are run like trash , with directors and owners that are either both clueless or down right arrogant idiots . they essentially gamble upon results , hoping for competition money to sustain them , keeping their finances in a constant state of flux of money coming in and going out , but never staying. very few clubs are run well as actual businesses (eg Bayern ) . Worst offenders are clubs like Barcelona , who honestly have no right to continue existing at all with the way they are run and they debts they have hanging over them. FFP is a complete failure and is completely useless as a deterrent . football would be better off if these clubs collapsed , removing their toxic influence upon transfer markets and stranglehold on tv rights ect.
