To clarify the French Guiana thing, it technically is not country, but a French overseas territory, which is why the stats did not include it.

Correct. Alysso, French Guiana is not a nation (it's not even FIFA-affiliated) as it's an intrinsic part of France. It would be like choosing the Canary Islands National Football Team (yes, it exists) which is an intrinsic part of Spain, and calling it an African nation!

Additionally, despite being part of France and being in South America, French Guiana competes in CONCACAF, as does Guyana and Suriname. Malouda played for French Guiana in lead-up to and in the first game of the CONCACAF Gold Cup in 2017, but they had to forfeit that match because FIFA ruled he was still cap-tied to France and couldn't play for another country, even after the 5 year gap

@@Tris2000 Being a part of a nation doesn't necessarily mean they can't have a separate football team, the British countries have their own football teams, Puerto Rico, Hong Kong, Faroe islands, Gibraltar, Macau, Curacao, Aruba etc.

@@simoncallister6071 The source is the premier league website itself. But having looked through it, the data is extremely dodgy. The premier league doesn’t start tracking minutes on their website until the 2006-07 season, but FBref has player minutes data since the first Prem season.

Footballing wise French Guiana operates under CONCACAF (North America) and CFU (Caribbean), so they aren't part of CONMEBOL (South American Football Confederation).

To add similar regionally South American but operating under CONCACAF (North America) are also Aruba, Bonaier, Curaçao, Guyana, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago - but also Falkland Islands that aren't part of any and players are free to choose any nation between Argentina, England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
