Seems to be these days you want the offensive team to score if you are on defense with plenty of time left in the 4th quarter so you can give your offense plenty of time to march down the field and score, if on offense trying to score you run out the clock and do not give the other team a chance to score such as Tom Brady or Patrick Mahomes

That Packers/Seahawks still haunts me. Winner goes to the Super Bowl, and Packers said, "Let Jordy Nelson catch it." (You can see his hands outstretch for the onside). But the GB player (can't remember his name anymore) wanted to be the hero and jumped infront of Jordy. Ball bounced off his helmet, and into Seattle's hands. He was cut shortly after the game

That team wouldn't have won the super bowl anyways, that trash oline and butterfinger receiving crew would have been destroyed by that 06 bears defense. That game vs seahawks did have a positive effect on the league though. The nfl changed the rules back to normal for field goal kicks. 06 they were forced to use new slippery balls for field goals and punts. Botched snaps and missed field goals were an issue in 06. And that playoff game was the last straw, the switched back to normal balls and 2007 field goal percentages shot up. As for 2014 that one hurt the worst because it was on the refs and cowboys would have won the super bowl that year. Out of all of romos trash teams, that year was the best chance. You could say 07 but that defense could not stop the 07 patriots, who put up over 50 points on cowboys defense during the season.

@@JokerFaceDG even the Detroit game the week before the refs were bad against Cowboys. Detroit fans like bringing up the picked up flag (even though the Detroit player was holding Hitchens facemask so it should have been a flag on Detroit anyways, so refs gave them a pass), they called a ghost running into the punter after Cowboys ran into field goal range for the punt return. So instead Detroit was given a first down, and ended up getting a td that series. Then Detroit actually runs into Cowboys punter at like the 50, and no call. There were bad calls in other spots against Cowboys. The nfl had an issue with Romo for whatever reason.

12:37 this drop may have very well determined the Super Bowl champion. If the ball was caught and every other outcome stayed the same, the Steelers would've been the 6th seed instead of the 2nd. They would've had to beat the Colts on the road, which was doable, but then it would've been off to New England and the Patriots owned the Steelers, back then. Steelers then don't go to the SB, meaning someone else--probably the Patriots--takes on the Packers. That's the NFL for you, though. Singular mistakes can and do change everything!

To this day I'm still baffled that on 2nd and goal in the damn super bowl with Marshawn Lynch one of the best running backs of all time especially for physical runs such as the one that they needed and should have ran, they decide to run a dangerous slant route passing play... I remember people talking about this for the longest time afterward and the coaches and coaching staff had a personal beef with Marshawn Lynch which was petty as hell even though if you don't like the guy he's going to win you the game if you give him the ball in that scenario 9 times out of 10. Ego and pride smh. Dumbest shit ever
@joellahrman45573 жыл бұрын
I don't think it was that simple. It was 2nd and goal and the Seahawks only had one time out. So if you run it on 2nd and goal and you don't get it, then you have to call time out and then the Patriots know that the third down call has to be a pass. If you run the pass on second down you can still go pass or run on third down, or if the play blows up you can use the time out if you have to. So I don't have a problem with calling a pass, but thought the specific play and route was way off. I would have let Wilson roll out to his right, give him a couple of options. Not run that slant route.

@@joellahrman4557 Also, the play as scripted actually was "that close" to working. Wilson's throw led Baldwin (?) about two or three inches too far. Had he hit Baldwin on the numbers, it would have been a TD.
@JBM4252 жыл бұрын
@@joshg.6315 If the Patriots knew it was going to Lynch, you can't guarantee he wouldn't have gotten in. That said, I still would have given it to him. I liked the idea of forcing the Patriots to guess whether Lynch would get the ball or if there would be a slant/rollout, because then the Patriots couldn't stack the box on Lynch, but a pitch to him in motion on a sweep would have been almost a sure thing, and if someone had actually beaten coverage, then Wilson could still throw. Wilson's pass being two or three inches too far ahead spelled the difference.

Pete Carroll made that pass call @10:32 on 2nd Down because Seattle had scored with that same pick play right before the end of the half. That's why Butler was positioned to move on the ball and not be screened by the Offence. If the pass was incomplete, the Seahawks still had 2 chances to score - if it worked, Pete would've been hailed as a Genius - but I guess he didn't count on New England Intercepting the pass. Also, if they kept their cool instead of being Flagged off-sides they could've easily scored a Safety and got the ball back to tie the game with a Field Goal
@SteveGellerMusic Жыл бұрын
It was not impossible, but the ball was legitimately at or near the 1. Trying to give a safety to a team whose literally only job is to fall forward 3 times to avoid a safety (i.e., they didn't need to care about down and distance at all) is very unlikely. If the first play was even close to disaster, Brady probably just runs two sneaks.
