Beyond needlessly abandoning the QB that helped the team rebuild from the 1-31 abyss, we gave up too much, gave a sexual predator an unprecedented contract and made him the face of the franchise Jimmy Haslam is an awful owner who actively undermines the franchise on a regular basis. Lastly, this giant deal automatically raises expectations for the team. Watson will not lead the Browns to a SB. We would be lucky to win the division during his contract.

Another factor that worked for the Texans: by trading Watson, they effectively commited to a rebuild, which caused them to have the 2nd worst position in the 2023 draft, which put them in position to draft CJ Stroud. Don’t forget with Watson during his “good” years he has the blown 24-0 lead in a playoff game followed by a 4-12 record in the 4800yd 33/7 TD/INT season. Also without giving the Steelers 14pts in a pick 6 and fumble 6 they could be 10-4 and have a better shot at the division and possibly #1 seed in the AFC. Imo the narrative around the Diggs trade is confusing. The Bills fleeced the Vikes. The trade was, on its own, pretty much the same exact trade as AJ Brown to the Eagles. The Vikes hit on their pick, the Titans didn’t. That doesn’t reflect on how smart the trade was tho. They traded for a underwhelming assets, and struck gold turning those assets into a top 3 receiver. The trade itself wouldn’t have been worse for MIN if they took Reagor. The biggest bone I have to pick with the Watson trade is not the asset management, but the ludicrous FULLY GUARANTEED contract that the Browns gave since they were so desperate for a QB under center after the team ruined Baker Mayfield. Look, I am not saying Mayfield would have been a "set the world on fire" QB, nor would his attitude problems go away overnight, but you look at his stint with the Rams and Buccaneers, and Mayfield is doing pretty OK for himself. Back to Watson, the contract he got was what poisoned the QB well for a time, cause you already have a precedence with Rick Spielman drafting that fully guaranteed contract for Kirk Cousins, and now the Browns chose to double down by doing the same thing with Watson. The precedence this caused nearly torpedoed the QB market, cause you have to remember that guys like Jalen Hurts, Joe Burrow, and especially Lamar Jackson were looking for their "big boy" deals, and Jackson's camp was specifically using Watson's deal as leverage. If not for the Eagles righting this ship with the more reasonable deal for Jalen Hurts, there may be a case against the Browns for tampering. It's one thing to be incompetent by yourself, but it's another when your incompetence drags others down with you, and this is why I say the Watson deal is a lot worse than the assets given up to the Texans.
@RaulAlvarez267810 ай бұрын

Thing with the Chiefs is, Skyy Moore kinda sucks but George Pickens is looking like another entry into the Steelers Headcase WR Hall of Fame.
@deemity755710 ай бұрын
Yes Skyy isn’t good but the hill trade got them a top 5 defense that they are barely paying cuz they all are on rookie contracts. Even with the receiver issues, the trade was very worth it.

@@deemity7557That's what it's like when you have to pay the best QB in the world. You gotta be super cost controlled and adaptable everywhere else. You gotta find value for cheap and they've done it on defense but they swung and missed on offense. I think they'll figure it out this offseason.

I’m sorry but the Bills side of the Diggs trade is not A+. It’s definitely A- or A but it’s not the perfect trade for them. The fact that the pick turned into JJ and that the Bills have consistently underperformed in the playoffs push me to not call it an A+. Still a great trade for both sides but a true A+ trade package is something like the Stafford trade

Not really good really good players off the trade. Dude listed Moore and Duffie but there was more players we got based off of that trade. Not to mention we won the Super Bowl while the dolphins were a first round exit. Let’s not forget when Hill talked all that trash and then literally handed the Chiefs a pick six. Lmao

I don’t understand how we all just gloss over the fact that the year after the Tyreek trade the Chiefs won the Super Bowl and Mahomes was NFL MVP. Isn’t the immediate Super Bowl the reason that the Rams got an automatic A+?

I’d give Stafford a A or A-. Only because of the rams inability to do anything with the talent they have after the superbowl year. Not discrediting the Super Bowl wins. But the rams went from a superbowl winner to now being .500 with 3 games left. If they were good for multiple years it’s be an A, but because it was a one year thing I don’t think it’s an A+
@varamaur956710 ай бұрын
Won the Super Bowl and are currently one of the hottest teams heading toward the playoffs, so definitely not an A- . The assignment was to win a Super Bowl, and the Rams aced it fast.
@trentwise376210 ай бұрын
@@varamaur9567 one of the hottest teams? Bruve. They are 9-8. And I already brought up they won the Super Bowl. But now they are in limbo and their best players are about to retire. The only thing they have going for them is puka. Kupp has already been hurt a couple times this season. Stafford is a year or two from retiring. Donald will most likely retire this year. It got them a Super Bowl but it’s also cost them any chance at being a contender for years to come. So yeah I think an A- is pretty accurate.
@varamaur956710 ай бұрын
@@trentwise3762 - Good response. I stand by my take. There was only one objective/assignment for the Rams in trading for a veteran quarterback who is now (and at that time near) his mid-30’s: a Super Bowl win ASAP. Mission accomplished it. Anything beyond that (e.g. another trip to the playoffs, which is about to happen) is extra credit.
@trentwise376210 ай бұрын
@@varamaur9567 yes I also believe the rams are happy with the trade. I never said it wasn’t a good trade. But an A+ trade is the cowboys herschall walker trade. It’s a trade that won them a championship and they CONTINUED to be a top team. If you think the rams trade is on the same level as the Herschel walker trade then go ahead give it an A+ However due to the fact that the rams are now BARELY making the playoffs after NOT making it the year after their championship, I don’t feel an A+ is an accurate rating. It did what they needed it to do. But that trade is also specifically responsible for why the rams have failed to bring in any talent outside puka since they won.
@varamaur956710 ай бұрын
@@trentwise3762 - An A+ is 101% (again, assumes the Rams make the playoffs this year) or 300% (Aikman+Smith Cowboys). No other team but the Pats have had that kind of success in a long time. The Rams are good at developing talent. Even if this were to be Stafford’s and Kupp’s last years, there are good young players in addition to Nacua on both sides of the ball. Really, the biggest X-factor is if Sean McVay stays or goes. His serious flirting with a TV deal after the Super Bowl win is further proof the Rams’ assignment was short term. Anyway, nice chatting with you. Wishing your team luck rest of the season.

The Hill Grade is a L take yes it was good for Miami but for the Chiefs they also got the pick needed for rice. And still have a pick that has yet to be used. But the chiefs would have gotten nothing for him had they waited. So that is so clearly a B+ to A.

The Browns need to dump Watson and save whatever money they can. They also need to fire the bozo that dumped Mayfield (a really good quarterback) for a molester who hadn't played in a year. Had they traded one first rounder and gave Watson a 2 year deal this would be easier to swallow. But this trade was so egregious, so dumb, and went as poorly as everyone predicted. I can't even root for the Browns anymore. Just so so God damn dumb. The only way that trade won't go down as the stupidest trade of all time is if Watson throws for 5k yards the next 4+ seasons and wins two superbowls.
