"Disrupting" is a bit exaggerated. He has a very unique look on tactics, but it's hardly making a dent in his clubs performances. He got fired after 10 games (2W, 3D, 5L) with Genoa, ended 16th with Spezia and currently sits 7th with Bologna, who got 9th place last season without him.

What strikes the attention is that every single one of the players of this Bologna seems perfectly born to play Motta's football. It's really difficult to find ONE player who openly seems out of the schemes, in difficulties applying Motta's requests or simply not playing at his 100%. Probably just Karlsson at the start of the season, and his is a comprehensible difficulty since he's used to a less defensive and organized football. But seriously everyone on the pitch, from the starters to the subs, is at his ease with Motta's requests expressing his best. Calafiori, Zirkzee, Fabbian, Ferguson, Orsolini, even the less famous and flashy Aebischer, Freuler, Beukema, Lucumì, Saelemaekers, Ndoye, Kristiansen: it's clear they all know exactly and perfectly what to do on the pitch

dont knw if am gonna get hate for this...but if you analyse carefully, this is actually how ten hag wants to play at united. the inverted centrebacks, the reason for bringing onana coz he obviously was planning to be playing the ball more on united's half, then quickly transition on attack in the space behind the defenders(that's why u hear him say everyday "we want to be the best transition team"). i think he just doesn't have the ball-playing centreback to back Martinez and injuries made it even worse, lets see when he gets centrebacks in the summer how next season will look like.

Nobody is re-inventing the wheel, pre late 1960's when almost every club adopted the 4-4-2 shape, teams were set up in a very attacking team shape. Liverpool have played with a high press from 1960's, through to current day as well as goal keepers playing as a sweeper and defensive players encouraged to join in going forward with rotation of other players as cover! These managers are credited with inventing modern football when all it amounts to is an adaptation or variation on team shapes from 40- 60 years ago

Bologna will definitely end up the season as 4th or 5th, but the worst possible thing for them would be losing Motta at the end of the season, and the two best players, Zirkzee & Luis Ferguson. For the first one, Milan is very, very hot, as well as Napoli, who also likes Ferguson a lot, but for him, there's a strong opposition in Juventus (which I think, it'll be such a sad site to see himplay under Allegri, who isn't just a coach - together with Mourinho - from Jurassic era), and althoough they'll fill their budget significantly and be able t buy mre players than what they did last summer, still, it'll be a big blow, especially f they end up in CL!

Ho fatto un conteggio: Il Bologna contro le prime 9 in classifica ha fatto 16 Punti (verificate posso aver sbagliato.) Contro le ultime 9 della classifica ha fatto 16 punti. Il Genova sta in mezzi (1 punto) Ecco, io direi che Thiago per affrontare le grandi è intoccabile, non sbaglia 1 partita, giocatori preparati benissimo ecc ecc (voto 10) Ma possiamo dire con altrettanta franchezza che le tattiche e la preparazione partita contro le squadre più deboli è inadeguata. (voto 5) Provo a dire cosa per me è sbagliato nell'affrontare le squadre più deboli, prima di tutto non puoi dire ma loro si chiudono e non trovi spazi, loro usano i loro mezzi per batterti te devi fare altrettanto. Il problema secondo me è il possesso palla sterile, quello che Thiago utilizza con tutti. Cosa ti da il possesso palla sterile contro una squadra sulla carta più forte di te? Primo evita che la palla sia nei loro piedi quindi diminuisce la possibilità degli avversari di segnare (con un possesso palla del 60% hai 53 minuti con palla nei piedi per segnare, con un possesso palla del 40% hai solo 36 minuti a tua disposizione per segnare.9 Secondo la squadra più forte corre e si stanca per portarti via la palla perchè vuole segnare magari più gol per stare tranquilla. Questo i da la possibilità di calcolare un paio di fasi della partita dove spingere per provare a tua volta a fare gol e magari vincerla. I risultati di questa tattica con le squadre forti sono sotto gli occhi di tutti. Passiamo alle squadre più deboli. Primo sei te che devi segnare, quindi se riduci le azioni che possono portate al gol, sempre col possesso di palla sterile danneggi te stesso. Secondo la squadra debole, non pressa e non si stanca anzi gode se fai girare la palla e passano i minuti con la palla nella tua metà campo e a fine partita ti mette in difficoltà perchè ha le ebergie (tu no ) di fare gli ultimo 15 minuti a fuoco. E anche per questa tesi i risultato sono sotto gli occhi di tutti. Quindi Thiago, bravissimo ma contro le squadre deboli devi giocare a calcio. Fatemi sapere se condividete qualcosa o no. Ciao Lillo
