Here's the weakness of this system: Pep can always, like ALWAYS, with Barca, Bayern, or Man C, to generate numerical superiority anywhere on the pitch EXCEPT for in the final third. Teams that understand this and stay consistently disciplined inside their third cause a lot of trouble for Pep. In these kinds of situation, Pep must rely on individual brilliance, particularly the ability of dribblers (like Iniesta and Messi mostly but occasionally others like Villa) to beat 2-3 men to mitigate the numerical inferiority. Who can play that key dribbler role now at Man C for Pep? And who could have done so for him at Bayern?

Currently nobody and that is why he constantly adapts his style. At Man City he started with 3 CBs, the following season it was a 4-3-3 with the fullbacks acting like midfielders, then it was a 4-3-3 with inverted wingers... And now he doesn't have a striker so he adapted his style to where he doesn't even need one. That's what makes him brilliant in my opinion. The fact that he never stops evolving and adapting. The issue with Pep for me is that he really does need specific type of players for his systems to work. I mean, that's the case with every coach but especially Pep. But once he has the players he needs he's unstoppable.

Except we play with Inverted full backs now And wide wingers with the Midfilders running into the space created by the number 9 dropping deep It's similar to Pep's current Manchester City side

@@wallahhabibiiii I don't but Pep's city doesn't have the same flow as xavi's Barcelona.
@positional_play2 жыл бұрын
that's just nostalgia. Wallah Habibi is right that Xavi's Barcelona is more like Guardiola's City than Guardiola's Barcelona. As he said, fullbacks are inverted and our current midfielders are much more vertical and direct because that's how the game's evolved.
