When my dad and I looked at bridge designs for crossing his creek it was hard to find an example of what we wanted. We decided to learn what we could then BUILD our own!
If this is your first visit to my channel, note that I have a much larger one with a greater focus on entertainment through education. Check it out here:

Seeing this show up in my feed tells me that my recent civil engineer son is still thinking about putting a bridge in my backyard. I like the beam bridge. I guess he will figure out how big the footings need to be. I enjoyed your video.

I just built my first 2 footbridges for a client, and although I’m happy with how they turned out, I wish I would have looked at some bridge designs before I built them! Next time I want to incorporate trusses into the design rather than using 2x12s for the stringers. Thanks for the video, I really like your arched truss bridge!

Hi Quint! Thank you for sharing builds - and most importantly stories - like these with us! I absolutely enjoy watching both your channels, but especially all the thoughts about life and work you share with us here are so meaningful. Keep up the great work! Best wishes, an engineer to be

Cool bridges! That’s a beautiful property. My favorite is also the first one although I appreciate the complexity of the last one. I’m sure the memories have even more value than the bridges themselves. I have many similar memories with my family.

Yeah, I stumbled on some old emails between you and me about the design of the suspension bridge. I'm really pleased with how it's held up.

It's where my folks retired. Someday maybe I'll get to live there. My dad worked as a fish biologist for 27 years so having a pond and a creek is a dream come true.

i know this is an old video but cool projects. for the first bridge i think you need transversal vertical beams so it doesn't wobble as much (didn't look like there was any) (ie vertical beams between the two arches. ) btw beautiful property.

Could you provide me with more information on what materials, specifically having to deal with the cable, you used on the suspension bridge? I am looking to build one in my own backyard over a 30ft gap and am using this as inspiration.

Do you live in a temperate rainforest? Look at all that moisture!

Oregon coast is essentially a rainforest. That area is a 10 minute drive from the pacific ocean. It's about to get real wet for several months!

Awesome build, thanks for video. I'm thinking of adding a bridge to the deck at the back of my house, what do you think would be the best way to anchor the cable to the deck end? Since I cant use a concrete ground anchor on that end. Any resources you might have? Thanks.

Hi quint! Instead of messing with the water off your roof why now make some hydro-electric from your river!!! It is totally doable with far less water than you have!!

You did some nice jobs there. Still a little bit disappointed due to the fact I thought you were going to explain how you design them (calculating reactions and momentums) and then how you pass from the theory to the actual execution of the project. Still nice work overall in your channel
