I am sure you have probably tried, my friend puts her jeans/trousers/bottoms on first and rolls them up above her knee, then puts her leg on. May not work or be practical for you but I thought I would mention it.

yes, I thought why not stick the upper part of the leg through the pants so that the pants are already on when putting on the leg. I don't know if this is feasible though

4:30 You can get a removable foam shell. I had one until I set it on fire, working as a welder. I noticed my knee getting very warm, then I heard one of my co-workers yell, "Dude, your leg is on fire!" I had flames shooting up a foot past my knee. Very exciting. I took it in for repairs and my prothetist was like, "What the hell have you been doing!"

Hello joe , I myself am a below knee amputee, watching your videos helped me tremendously!! My amputation was traumatic from a motorcycle accident. But even with it being a traumatic amputation and having more problems with my limb than I expected; I am reaching goals I thought I would’ve never met in the amount of time I did. Watching how positive and how motivated you are pushes me to do the same. 💯✊🏽

Hey Jo! I've been watching your journey for awhile now, I m so happy things are finally working out for you. Just a quick tip from a fellow amputee 😊 first, I found it easier to put the shoe on the prosthetic & then put on your leg so you don't have to bend over, but back the shoe you have to loosen the shoelaces alot, it takes a little more time, but its way easier this way, then put your "foot" in your shoe slide the toes in all the way first and then push down on the heel, this way should be less of a struggle. Hope this helps, and my instructions werent confusing haha, again so happy for you!

Great to see you up and walking. For wearing under skinny pants/jeans and leggings I have my prosthetist make a removable cover for my leg. It fills in the calf area and looks similar in size and shape to my other leg. I use a skin colored sleeve from Fred's legs to keep it in place. It doesn't interfere with the action of my prosthetic foot at all.

So glad to see that the first 24 hours went well. I just started following your channel, so I didn’t get the journey you already had. When I saw you getting in the car a old advice popped in my head from when I had a knee problem as a teenager. Put your good foot under you’re the foot of your “bad” leg and use it as a lift to get the bad leg where you want it go. Hope is helps and hope you get many more good 24 hours with sunshine ( btw I love the song you named it after)

Hi Jo, I've been a BK amputee for about 23 years. Lost mine in a auto/motorcycle accident while on vacation in Florida. I began working in the O&P industry about 12 years ago. Watching you struggling to put your shoe on I thought I'd share a tip. Try getting dressed sitting on a bench. Set your shoe on the bench beside you and slide your prosthetic foot into it using a shoehorn. Then place your leg on the floor in front of you and pull your pant leg all the way over the socket. Next, put your sound leg into the other pant leg and then slide your leg into the socket as you stand up. Now just bend over, pull your suspension sleeve up and then pull your pants up. This always works because some pants legs are too tight to pull up high enough to put your leg on.I also wanted to tell you how much I've enjoyed watching your videos. You have a great attitude which is what separates those amputees who move on and regain their lives. With your attitude, you will be able to do anything you set your mind to. I've passed 60 this year and I still ride my bicycle, go to the gym, scuba dive worldwide and do pretty much anything I want to. Decided earlier this year that I missed riding a motorcycle and now own three. It's been great getting back on the horse. You will be awesome at what ever you do, just take it easy starting out and take care of your contralateral knee as well as your residual limb. Don't hop around on one leg or it will become your bad leg. I learned this the hard way and now my only problem is my sound side knee. Just take care of it. I'll try to keep up with your progress and let me know if I can be of help in any way. Charlie Coulter, Virginia Prosthetics

When I commented on another little film I forgot to mention that my hands are affected with my "whatever it is disease ". The nerves are slowly being destroyed and the skin is thick and ugly and painful. I can't do buttons anymore and it's hard to tie things. I have to put my shoes on my prosthetic before I put it on. Then I put it all on. I'm limited to what I can do severely. But as time passes I've learned coping strategies that save the day!!! And I'm soooooo happy for you that you are finally conquering this! So you Go girl!!! I'm your new number 1 fan!!!

Two suggestions for your liner that I got: From my prosthetist: baby shampoo. Sounds crazy, but its what Ive used for 4 months and I have sensitive skin and had no issues still! From an amputee convention: listerine. This isnt a normal cleaning thing, but it starts to smell real bad, could be a good option! Im so happy for you and so glad you are doing well now! Keep it up girl!
