I was born in '46, & honestly, the 1st musical that meant anything to me, was '61's West Side Story.". However, thanks to the phenomenon I knew called " Late Show Movies" on local TV stations, I did, through the years, get to see every musical from MGM, 20th Century Fox, & Warner Bros. . On weekends, when allowed to stay up, I saw every musical shown in this video. What a treasure they are, & again--how ingenious this video & all the others like it, are! -------------WolfSky9, 71 y/o Now

Many have used more clips, but each was so short, synchronizing two or three steps to the music was no challenge. You lovingly stayed on each clip longer, allowing the artistry of each performance to overcome any minor mismatch to the tempo. For this, you should be congratulated! You have provided a true showcase of time-honored performances for newer generations!

Wowza!! Thanks so much for another tribute video to Fred Astaire! And… I’m sure I saw some other ppl, like the best female dancers of that generation, Gene Kelly seemed to be flItting about, pretty sure I saw Bing Crosby but it wasn’t Holiday Inn (that might have been a hallucination Bc I love that movie so much) and that woman Astaire is often with.. Ginger Rogers, I think that’s it… I’m kidding, I hope you know. I recognized almost everybody and I ADORE these videos but I do not lie when I say my eyes are drawn to Fred Astaire Bc he’s my personal God (everybody has a favorite). Of course, I’m not alone w my worship, but then again, then are millions who prefer the stylings of Gene Kelly so. It’s subjective. What’s NOT subjective is the amount of work and effort you put in so that ppl like myself could be wildly entertained by the final artistic video!! It is a treasure! Thank you, thank you, thank you!! 🥰🥰🥰🕺🎩 Do ppl truly write nasty comments? To you??! That’s criminal. And rude. And if they don’t or didn’t like the video, why didn’t they just go somewhere else? I am sending extra kudos to you for your amazing work to counteract anybody who possibly said anything negative for whatever reason. They are wankers. They didn’t deserve to watch your video in the first place!! So there!! ☺️☺️😘😘🥰🥰🥰

Vera Ellen---the most underrated dancer ever!!! And the youngest and quite possibly shortest, Rockette! Somewhere there is a video out there of her tap dancing on pointe---truly remarkable and when you watch her in the full clip in White Christmas where she dances with Johnny Brava (sp?) I think ---the clip here where she is in yellow---just watch her facial expressions---they are the best in the business of a gal dancing with her whole being---she had all the technicality down pat as well as perfect timing and add to that her face and you've got the best lady dancer out there, in my opinion...
@esmeephillips58883 жыл бұрын
John Brascia. Tapping en pointe was a Broadway specialty in the 1920s which Vera-Ellen revived. You can see a young hoofer called Joyce Murray doing it in the original 'Broadway Melody' of 1929. I always find Vera-Ellen's and Ann Miller's faces relatively fixed in those joie-de-vivre expressions which dancers adopt when they have to think their way through complicated sequences. One can hear the dance director yelling the stock instruction: 'C'mon honey, project- t*ts 'n' teeth, OK?'
