India spooked in the final after having played fearless attacking cricket for the entire league stage of the WC! Attacking intent in key moments matters no matter the result! Sending Jadeja ahead of SKY and not giving the new ball to Siraj were telling moves steeped in fear and defensive mindset! It’s not a matter of whether the better team won or not, the most fearless and attacking team definitely won!

When pressure comes India goes on the defensive while Australia naturally goes counterattack. Even when the ball was swinging a lot marsh came out hitting hard while they could have easily shut shop and bat out 15 overs. Its inner nature of Australia to attack when under pressure.

As an Indian i was shocked to see how badly the pitch was prepared, They should have trusted Indian players instead of trying to prepare a tricky wicket. No host nation will do such a stupidity.

The real question would be whoose idea was it to influence the pitch curators. Surely not the team or the staff , who in the bcci thought he could outsmart cricket.

I m sure Rohit sharma and Rahul dravid knew about the pitch..Its not like BCCI just bamboozled them on the last days..The only reason is they tried to trap australia and build pressure on them instead they were caught un their own trap..

Excellent analysis. Re mid-set: decades ago, former Wallaby-turned-tv rugby commentator Chris Handy said, of a Wallabies team that'd pulled a game out of the fire with bold, last-minute attacking play, "Don't you just love it when Australian sporting teams back themselves!" In fact "Back yourself" could be a great Australian contribution to the art of coaching. Wanna World Cup (in anything)? Back yourself and your team to play to the very limit of skill. Or be runner-up.

Harsh reality: India will always have a lot of fan and media pressure especially at home in every icc tournament Australia had no pressure and they will not take much pressure as they have 6 world cup titles in the bag. Psychologically the past sucess and failure make a big difference in big games

if the pitch plays such a huge factor, the game is no longer about skills but who gets lucky on that day. India might have been a superior side but the difference in top teams might be 55-45, not 75-25, so the conditions become a huge factor in deciding a winner. I want to revisit an idea pitched by Jarrod about having baseball-type 8-10 innings where both teams get equal access to exploit the conditions.

Yes since 2013 every knockout match that india has been smacked one sided, the pitch & conditions was always the problem bcos let's face it how can the mighty indian team lose a knockout ...how dare the opposition teams think about winning against India ...dont they know how indian fans might overanalyze & be cry babies..🤣🤣🤣

The teams were, man for man relatively even matched. Australians fielding was a huge factor. 37 old Warner hovering around the field was amazing. I think the first ball of the AUS innings a chance went through the Indian slips was the crucial delivery of the match. Similar to Starc bowling McCullen the WC2015. While the Cummins dismissal of Kholi was crucial, this missed catch was also crucial. The missed catch at the beginning of the AUS innings was also crucial.

It is not so much how they lost it, the match was not close. It is a matter of the all-conquering Australian team. The group match when they beat Australia, mirrored 2015 when they lost to NZ in the group game but won the final against NZ. While NZ won the group game, AUS were fighting all the way to the end, they went down fighting. The group game where India beat Aus after Aus posted a paltry total, if AUS had not dropped I think Kholi in the group match they may have gone on to win that game. Again, A-la NZ2015, while losing to the eventual finalist they showed signs of fire.

"We beat you because we're better than you India. We were better than you before you began yammering on about how great you were during the world cup, and we're better than you now." - Quote and scene from Game of Thrones, the Hound, to Beric, but I translated it to cricket because it reminded me of the scene. :D

This is TRUE in general but this Australian team is not a better team than this Indian team. It is just their day and they played well on that day. Moreover, other things helped australia a lot. As they are not favourites, they played freely. Indian players were under immense pressure which is more than enough to loose knockout game. On the top of it prime minister visit will further add even more pressure. All these things are perfect recipe for disaster and this is what happened.

it was not the conditions. conditions were bad for batting and bowling throughout. its what the two teams were trying to do. aussies were looking to contain while indians were looking for wickets. indians could not afford to just bowl cutters into the wicket and make scoring difficult. assies knew they bat deep and all they need is 4 runs an over after that early burst. and every now and then head would put one in the stands. indians did not look to do that. that was the difference

I couldn't watch your whole podcast because that day still hurts. Just wanted to leave some thoughts here for every ICT fan just like me:- That day India played horrible cricket. Rohit did brilliant captaincy the whole campaign but his planned failed miserably that day. Its very hard quite pointless atm to point out what went wrong where. Only they(players) know. Australia cornered India quite well. They had nothing to lose that day and India has everything to lose. The host nation already playing so well and 1.4 billion people who have already crowned themselves as champions. It's a lot. But that's cricket. Someone has to lose so that the game can win. I think I have accepted that

Why rahuld dravid did not send a message to kohli and kl rahul to bat faster? Because india thought if they lose one more wicket they will get bundled out below 160. They played fearful cricket. Dravid that fool says india played fearless cricket. Sure not in FINAL where it counts.

Yes, a lot of things had to go against the team India to lose the cup that way. Yes they went that way to. However as a Fan, waiting rather desperately for the Cup, wanting to have those tears of Joy. They didn't seem to do anything to stop the ascent of wrong things rolling in their way. They didn't look like they had any plans after over 8-10 in both innings. How do you win games then ? How ? A champ side wins in all situations against all odds that's how we define champions in sports right? Show that we care for the cup and get bundled for 150 trying to get a well above par score and lose the game in the twentieth over with other team losing just 3-4 wickets but that would have pleased many of the lovers. That they tried the way Champions should have. It's not that giving the chokers tag is easy it is just that it has been becoming more & more general and easier to digest such losses when they shouldn't be. You want your best batters to show why you're the best ? You play the toughest game and you come out shining like a shimmering diamond! None of that has happened for a long long time in Indian cricket.

The reason BCCI extended Rahul dravid as coach because they dont have people who can understand human strength and weakness. After dravid , VVS laxman will be next coach unless JONATHAN TROTT win test series with afganistan then his name will be top of all coaches.
@clonedmosquito
@clonedmosquito 9 ай бұрын
A good coach knows players strength and weakness. They place players where they can excel. People who wants to win at all cost will find the people they are looking for. You need lots of leaders in the team to win big games. India has kohli and then nothing. Too many roleplayers and less leaders. Even with 100000 fans and home ground , india laid yellow poop in that stadium. Man , these 11 fools disappointed 1.4 billion indians. Not sure why any indian player cry. May be they were cocky into thinking they deserved to win? What kinda nonsense is that. Its like NFL playoff , Strong defense win knockout games. India lacked defense and offense choked.

The reason india lost because Rahul Dravid+Rohit net energy. There is strategy vacuum. India is always going to lose bat first or bat last. Rooster+Rooster >>> RAT+ Rabbit in any universe in pressure game. When it is clutch , you should bet on Rooster. But you cant tell this to blind people. It go through their ears and head. Fengshui is real!. Energy is real. All matters are basically energy. Vibrations affect this human energy bundle.
