Really beautiful. Love the vocal work. Love everything about it, actually. Wayne Shorter's passing is a sad loss for all of us. This performance reminds me of his timelessness in music and in life.

I keep coming back to this performance, it's something magical. The left foot hihat alone is something to study - so tasteful and musical. You can tell that the dynamics behind each stroke/hit are intentional and carefully chosen. Bravo Carter, thank you for sharing 👏

If there's one thing I've learned watching your playing over the past few years, Carter, is that you always seem to provide the perfect push and touch at every musical juncture--no matter which piece you are performing. It's such a pleasure to watch and learn from you from afar! 👏😎 P.S. Those Firegrains look and sound FIRE! 🔥🙌😎

Wow! I'm sorry missed this one a year ago...how wonderful! This is definitely my favorite track of this type that you've posted. A little Brazilian vibe with the vocal and definitely a West African vibe with whatever instrument is doing that arpeggio figure--was that a Kora? Sounds a bit like that...Thanks you so much for this!

Carter I don't know if you are replying to the Comments. But first i echo all of the other Comments. Your playing is at the world class level in my view. Second is this your 26 inch Istanbul ride cymbal? If so which one? Sublime cymbal. Thanks.

What a beautiful tribute to Wayne! I was lucky enough to see Wayne with Weather Report (Peter Erskine drumming), the VSOP tour after Miles passed (Tony on drums) and with his own quartet with Brian Blade on drums. Such a masterful and unique artist. Great, great work on your part. This interpretation of “Footprints” I also love because the vocal takes it out of it’s original context. When Elvin passed, I played a Charlie Watts Jim Keltner Project track called “Elvin Suite” during a break at my gig that weekend. There, things go even further afield from the typical Elvin context, which gives it a certain power: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rp7FdnV-m7qFfKs Thank you for sharing this.

NIce 🔥👽as always, you make the drum kit sing and dance with the finest choice of instruments. btw, Not sure if you're into heavier metal I do know you love Mastodon which I am also into. Are you familiar with Reed Mullin from Corrosion of Conformity?.the guy is fokin craaaaazzzzy, gone too soon &.So underrated. specifically this album Blind (1991) IT is my all time Fave. I was listening to just that before watching this vid...so it was a nice contrast :D would be so epic to see your take on one of those tunes.
