Hi, I was wondering if you know much about the California Rangers? The reason I ask is because they were supposedly founded and disbanded in 1853, but there are Australian sources that cite them at Battle of Eureka Stockade one year later, assisting the rebels against the red coats. One source actually says that the first shot of the battle was fired by a California Ranger on watch duty. I couldn't find any American sources that collaborate this, so I'm wondering if California actually sanctioned this (because that would be proof of at least kind of American-Australian alliance prior to WWI, which is huge) or if it was just something they decided to do of their own volition, perhaps after being paid their $5000? figured if anyone knows it would be this channel =)
