Too many fans don’t want to admit it, but a healthy league is one where everyone is competing to move up the ladder. Kilmarnock taking points and being competitive against one of the Old Firm shows that the league is becoming more competitive and making for a better SPFL. With the competitiveness in the lower divisions, we can hope Scottish football keeps going in the right direction.

I'm a St Johnstone fans since before their first post war promotion. I miss the days when the likes of Kilmarnock, Hearts, Hibs, Aberdeen, Motherwell and the Dundee clubs could have a go at winning something between them most years. Something changed with Jock Stein's Celtic years. I'm not sure what changed but the "smaller" clubs took a step back and have never recovered. Possibly too few teams in the Premiership doesn't help.

@@Wee_Langside, I’ve listened to a few proposals that would put the SPL into a Bundesliga-style model with 3 14-16 team divisions. I know that when trying to sell TV rights, which aren’t getting near enough exposure in my opinion, it’s the Old Firm derbies that get the viewers so broadcasters want as many of those games as possible. TV money will be what keeps Scottish football from growing to be the competition to the English Championship for foreign eyes and money.

Englishman here- as has been stated in the previous reply, we've got roughly 11 times the population of Scotland. Added to that, our top 2 divisions get so much hype, media coverage and investment compared to Scotlands. When you factor all this in, Scottish attendances are really decent overall. Just comparing attendances alone means nothing. Also, Bradford are an anomaly in league 2. Most clubs in league 2 and quite a few in league 1 are getting way below 10k a game.

Glasgow is 22 miles from Kilmarnock. in east anglia they would class that as a Derby if Ipswich play Norwich or if sunderland play middlesborough. the only time scots come out is if celtic play rangers or the national team plays. the scots need to support other teams rather than just old firm and scotland F.A.
