Adding microbactor 7 was huge for me. Uvc in the return but basting a small mix of the bacteria onto the rockwork in the main display. Night and day cyano cleanup.
@InappropriateReefer Жыл бұрын
Interesting, I don't have Microbactor7 on-hand and a bit hesitant buying more bacteria in a bottle after all the @Reefbum podcasts 😆 I do still have some Dr. Tim's EcoBalance, maybe I'll mix it in and see if I notice a difference!

It would actually decrease levels of calcium and alkalinity if both levels are high.

What do you think of mixing alkalinity and calcium liquid together to make reef snow? Dong mention on ReefBum that calcium carbonate powder particles is too big.
@InappropriateReefer Жыл бұрын
I have no experience with this but do understand that there will be precipitation when mixed; I guess you are suggesting to dose that? Let me catch up on the Podcast to get the details. 🙏
@thomasdirocco Жыл бұрын
Yeah Dong said mixing ESV part A and B because it makes a smaller particle (higher surface area to volume ratio and easier to have skimmed out). Plus it's aqueous and safer than not inhaling powdered chalk basically.

@insanity42244 ай бұрын
This shouldn’t raise calcium levels in your tank, it doesn’t dissolve. If it raised calcium then you would have major overdose problems. Calcium hydroxide is used to dose calcium and alk but you can’t dose it in large amounts like calcium carbonate.

Hi tanks looking gr8 , I think the turkey baster blasting and binding the accumulates it makes with the coral snow is the reason why nitrates and phosphate has decreased , u are cleaning b the crap from the rock and mechanically removing it , but all said and done all that is tank husbandry , your tank husbandry has increased because of all the little things u are doing now , it’s not any 1 product giving u results , it’s u giving u results , u should take credit for it , thanks for posting , love your tanks , and humble nature to the hobby peace and love to the family , from across the pond

Been using this for 4mo, vermited snails have not gone away and new ones are growing.
@704hunter Жыл бұрын
It doesn't get rid of vermited snails (they just close up!) in my opinion and I have also heard other people who have been in the reefing world for a long long time say that it doesn't help those snails either. Although there can be a real benefit to your water clarity and also getting rid of cyanobacteria but really if you're getting in there and blowing the cyano off any surface like rocks etc. That in its self will help get rid of cyanobacteria without the coral snow.

Get more BB snails, get an appropriately sized uv and run Carbonin a reactor. U will have clear water 24/7 without the work u have to go thru and it will also help in other areas
@InappropriateReefer Жыл бұрын
I have carbon reactor going mainly for the softies in this tank; I have never tried UV though, a bit conflicted about getting one online since it seems to kill off some beneficial stuff too?
@Neforpubl Жыл бұрын
It doesn't really kill off enough to be a problem, especially in a well established tank like yourself. I have been running UV for years and it has always been a game changer. Helps with a lot of algae issues and makes your water super clear. Ozone is fantastic also, only run it for 2 hours a night and you will see a MASSIVE improvement in overall tank performance. It can be spendy though. UV is my favorite though. Believe it or not I have been running a "Green Machine" set up from ebay (really cheap) for years and had amazing success. @@InappropriateReefer

I love the Undulate Triggerfish when my friend kept one, although I hear they are an absolute terror and would destroy tank mates; and that triggerfish in general like to nip at lionfish fins? I have no personal experience but I'd just get one of them out of that tank IMHO..

@@InappropriateReefer till now it doesn't do nipping but it is not a peaceful one. When lion gets mad, it would bite otherwise it corners lionfish. So lionfish stays in one corner till it gets hungry as it gets mad when get hungry
