For AA: Seiko 6217-8001 62mas restoration

Full restoration of an all-original 62mas. Two servicing marks in the early 1970s. Widespread damage from water intrusion; many movement parts beyond the dial damage. But I would consider this restoration to be the best I've done. Not just many hours in the movement - I ended up taking more time with the dial than the movement servicing, odd repairs - but a fantastic result.
PSA: This video contains sub-optimal levels of editing, namely, none. No script, no planning, no real editing, nothing. Same for the sound - I forgot my microphone so if you can hear anything count that as a win. Even if that "anything" is tuneless humming. I did pump up the volume though. YMMV if you choose to blow part of your life on this. No Refunds. Enjoy!

I found an original example of a 62 MAS on a website last week it was in fantastic original condition, the drawback was i could not afford it even though i seemed very reasonable.. I dont imagine there are too many around.. Enjoyed this video thanks for posting..

Excellent work Spencer, after all the years and watches you have worked on its great to see you get excited and proud of the work you do. Really enjoyed this one Spencer ..everything from the numbers you got out of it (better than Seiko git from it when it was new I bet) to the beautiful dial work..what a transformation and I am so happy that AA went ahead with the restoration. Lovely high-end watch Great video. But when you have a Seiko spring drive watch and a Damasko watch with its in house movement more accurate Omega Seamaster. 🤔 Just makes you think about the other watches you have

Greetings from New Zealand. Amazing work and really enjoy your videos Spencer. I noticed in this one the date stamp on the back of the dial was 74. Is that the year of manufacture (which doesn't make sense for a 60s watch) or is it a month year combo like casebacks?

What a great restoration! It's always nice when these watches get brought back to life. You have much to be proud of! I'm working on 7549 tuna which has a bezel with corrosion where the gasket sits. Do you have any tips on how to remove the bezel insert without damaging it or the pip so I can treat the bezel corrosion? Thank you, Spencer!

No worries. It's exactly the same as a 6309 or 6105 or first-gen 7002. Case knife gently from the inside is how I do it.

As someone who has watched hundreds of hours of Spencer I am absolutely impressed at how little bad language we hear from him...I rebuild fishing reels which is simple compared to Spencer's alchemy and my language has removed the varnish from my work table more than once so his restraint astounds me. Any of his sins in that regard are grossly outshined by his kind words to his wife, children and pets that we witness regularly. I think perhaps we should all just be happy that Spencer shares his skills here for us to see and if once in a blue moon he says something naughty we should rejoice in the knowledge that he is indeed human like the rest of us (though I suspect he does have some superpowers). If Spencer rolls up to the pearly gates old St Pete won't be bawling him out for a meager handful of swear words as he will be busy asking him if he could give him the recipe for revitalume to whiten up his halo a little!
