Such a good reminder ❤ to anyone “stuck” here who also can be perfectionistic (they go hand in hand), I reaaaally recommend the podcast episode “PERFECTIONIST FANTASIES + TOMORROW THINKING” from Unf*ck Your Brain by Kara Loewentheil and also the book The Gifts of Imperfection by Brene Brown. Truly helped me release things I didn’t realize I was holding! Best wishes to you all 💕

Here is a reminder: success can look different at different stages of your life. So don't hold on to old beliefs that make you miserable in the present. Reword what success means to you at this particular point in time. Second, if you are like me and midway through this video you just felt tired of hearing the amount of work and ACTION that fuels success, then take a deep breath and be kind to yourself, probably you have many other things going on in your life that require your attention and what you need is not 'money', 'time', or 'knowledge', but just rest. Rest to reset and then come back to this video, to feel inspired and not disappointed in yourself. And most importantly remember that no one advice, guidance or opinion is more relevant than what your internal wise self doesn't already know. If everyone tells you it is a good opportunity, and internally you feel rotten and uninterested, that's your redirection to pay attention to what YOU actually need at that moment in your life. Sending you virtual hugs and keep going!

What success means to me... I'd say maintaining quitting smoking, having decent (not perfect!) grades in college, a peaceful and clean house, and taking care of my friends and family. This will definitely change over time, but these are the most important things I'm working on right now. Such a wonderful video Ro, thank you so much for your wisdom! 💗

I never, EVER comment on videos, but I just wanted to let you know the impact that this video had for me right now. Sometimes we feel like we'll never be or have enough, but we don't ask ourselves what enough means for us and what is our definition of doing good or being successful. We all know that we can have our own definition of success but having a reminder like this will always help, thank you.

That concept of "Rich Life" is seriously so helpful. I learned about it years ago and it really changed the way I saw spending money. It's helpful to spend 10 minutes just jotting down the things I spent money on that weren't necessary, but that made me happy (coffee in coffee shops, airport lounges, etc.) and the things I was willing to skimp on (haircuts, etc.). Now I'm like...SAY SOMETHING ABOUT ME ALWAYS BEIN IN COFFEE SHOPS I DARE YOU! THIS IS WHAT MY RICH LIFE LOOKS LIKE!

Follow this principle: -do everything you have to do before 1 pm and you will be able to do whatever the rest of the day with a rested mind -so wake up at 7, end everthing before 1pm, go to bed at 10pm (you will get 9h of sleep) -in short have a 7 to 10pm day ; and 9h of sleep

As an artist, one of my greater fears is not going unnoticed, but being discovered. For a lot of people, it seems like having a following has great importance to them, and is what they would consider “success”. I’m not sure if this will make sense, but as someone who is motivated by others, I am severely crippled by the thing that motivates me. While I create more when I know people are watching, I am also terrified of one day waking up and realizing that I don’t create anything I’m proud of, or that I no longer derive joy from giving my art to others. Eventually, the worst fear could be realized: an end to my ability to create art entirely. It’s hard to manipulate myself into taking advantage of how thinking I should post something will get me to sit down and make art while avoiding the anxiety it simultaneously gives me. In a way, I think that my definition of success should also be finding inner peace, because, at least from my perspective, nothing else is really possible otherwise. Just a thought. Thanks for the great video!

I've determined that to me, success = peace. And I can only be at peace if I am living a life of authenticity. That involves being my creative self, and sharing my creations. I'm learning to detach from the end product (for me, that's music) and the reactions I may or may not get on my art. Because if I place too much importance on what others think, then it's easy to slide into feeling like a failure if no one cares, and like a success if they do. And that would equate success with external validation. It's a slippery slope! So I'm focused on enjoying the process of being myself and making music and I try to remind myself often that THIS is success. I spend my time doing what makes me feel authentically me and that knowledge brings me peace. And peace = success. Thanks for this video, it was a good reminder.

What happens if you lack two of those things at the same time though? I’m a person with multiple disabilities. I don’t have access to money or knowledge, but I have time. The time I have though is filled with just trying to get through the day. I also don’t know what success means to me because I’m constantly berated by those around who say I use my disabilities as an excuse to “not do anything worthwhile in my life”. Life is hard.

Sometimes getting through the day is really tough for me as well. So rest assured you are doing what you can for yourself. I’m sorry it’s so tough right now, Kara :( I’m there many days myself, and there have been periods when I felt I didn’t have any of these currencies. It can be so easy to believe messages about laziness :( Idk if this resonates with you, but I think in some circumstances it makes more sense to meet ourselves where we’re at, give ourselves grace for where we’re limited or overwhelmed, and then focus on rest and certain inner successes. Like, I have long-term career goals/dreams, but I’ve realized that part of the journey to get there is “simple” stuff, like nourishing my body and mind, learning more about my brain, practicing being present enough to enjoy the small things in each day, fostering relationships, etc. Without feeling grounded, grateful, connected to loved ones, or as healthy as my body will allow me to be, my long-term pursuits will probably be hindered and unfulfilling

Success for me is being able to intentionally internalize my day to day experience and be present while doing it. That for me is success. To me, success means living a life where I can have a beautiful home filled with elements of nature. A place that provides healthy, nourishing foods and conversations for my friends and dear ones. A space where they can unwind and be themselves. It means having the time to bake for work colleagues, give resources and help to those in need. It's all about having the time and an immense amount of space and light to hold that for others. I may not be very rich, but I'd like to be financially comfortable to a point where I can buy high quality ingredients for others without having to worry about the price. I'd like a job with flexibility in my schedule, and work that helps upgrade people's lives in a multitude of ways - not just one facet. Thank you so much for your video, Rowena!

Of the three, the most important I believe is time because it's scarce. So, you would think, money to buy time, knowledge about how to do things more and more efficiently, and time itself is dependent on your emotional state and physical vitality. The more passionate, the more positive, and the healthier, the more time you will have to do the things you want.
