Hi Rowena, thanks for sharing your template. I have read & re-reading Atomic habits & How to fail & win big. The systems idea was mind blowing for me....I am now seeing where I was failing... I was thinking how to setup system and found your channel by chance? or choice?, i'm not sure but am very thankful for ur video

I like how you explained doing a lot honestly makes you a little cuckoo so planning the night before ensures you can be a little cuckoo because you're not focusing on what you have to complete you're just getting it done BECAUSE u put the work it like nobody wants to be crazy

I've been following along with the notion templates. I really enjoy the way you have structured the worksheets 😄. I did have a very confusing problem with this worksheet though. It doesn't actually populate my values database, it refers to your template db. I ended up re-linking my own databases to make it work. I'm grateful for your hard work and dedication to our wellbeing, and this hiccup has pushed me to learn more about Notion lol🌱🧠💪

For me personally, my lack of motivation comes from feeling overwhelmed with the infinite number of tasks I have to do. I like to break them down and try not to think of the whole project but try to look at just one task at a time. Thanks for this video, you're doing a great job and explain everything so well :)
@karmenjane12572 жыл бұрын
Same here but what I found is once I get to a hurdle or roadblock/ person that makes it extremely difficult to get something accomplished, I just give up entirely. Then revisit the task after some time has passed.

I do have a tip! My sistem is called "the lazy routine". When I don't feel like doing my night routine, I convince my self to do at least one of the task I need to do. So a couple of years ago, on my lazy days I would just wash my teeth very quickly with manual brush and go to bed. Some days I just end up the having the full routine anyways. On Others, I just do this lazy routine, which consists of only essential steps. But whit time, it almost came natural to add steps to the lazy routine, one at a time. The first step felt easy even on days I was tired, so I added another one, and another one, and so on. Today, my "lazy" routine consists in fully and properly brushing my teeth, flossing, double cleansing my face, exfoliating torner and moisturizer. This is very close to my everyday normal routine! Just start small and then keep adding steps until at some point even if you don't feel like you will still do a simpler routine which is vetter than nothing. Eventually at some point you will just stick with doing the proper routine everyday! Also the lazy days happens a lot less frequently than before!!

I would add to the reasons: lacking energy and lacking fun. Energy is a big one because the more you expect from yourself, the more brain power and energy in general you'll need. That's why it's important to prioritize not only sleep and rest but also moving your body AND not overloading yourself because you'll burn out eventually. The second thing is fun and unfortunately in productivity land we keep it in the backburner or worse we want fun to be useful. Fun should serve no purpose and be priority #2 if you want to live a long fulfilling life that can support so many goals.

I have a big tip for u all. Last year I seriously procastinated my studying, i got covid 1st Jan 22 but learnt that resting my body is just as productive. Since i got better, i thought of studying for couple hours a day 5 days a week. Not even a month in and I have submitted 5 modules!! Small gradual steps over time provide big accomplishments ^_^
@y-m-x2 жыл бұрын
I think the best thing I’ve done in terms of setting systems this month is shifting from daily habits to different frequencies. For example, I want to relearn the French I’ve forgotten from school and become completely fluent, so I use Duolingo daily, but study in depth through other lesson plans or consume French media only 3 days a week. I’ve already set the days up in advance too, and I still put it up on a habit tracker where the days I’m not supposed to do something are greyed out. So there’s still a sense of it being a habit and wanting to keep it up, but at the same time I’m a little more lenient with myself and I understand that there are like 6 categories in life I need to improve on and more than a dozen actionable goals, so I can’t do all these things every single day. It’s much more realistic for me to divide things throughout the week so I can get more done and be more inspired the next week. I think turning everything into a daily habit tracker, for me, is something that’s just designed to fail. Understanding what works for you and what doesn’t is so important.

I’m still working through finding a system that works for me, trying to prioritize tasks that make me feel happy (like taking a walk) vs tasks that take a lot of out me (like freelance work). This week I bought a daily planner and I’ve been trying to loosely plan out what to do when and adjusting it each day until I find the perfect routine for me. I’m still having a hard time getting myself into the mindset to start working (#ADHDlife + 0 Self Discipline) but I’m still determined and hopeful that I’ll find a routine that works for me!

Ah yes, ADHD. I recently found a plain notebook (that I’ve had for 10 years and barely used but started organising to move house with and just kept going) that works perfectly for me as a planner. The best part? The pages start blank. I have no idea why that matters but my brain is adamant… and wouldn’t you know it, the style of notebook is impossible to find ready made, so I’ve had to make peace with shelling out for custom made, alas. And the gym everyday? Gross no thank you. Laps of my local, heated, public pool? Horse riding lessons?? Yes please, very much! I was only diagnosed 6months ago so I’m still learning how to streamline everything. It’s been a big relief to finally have a starting point for my solutions! If I follow the dopamine, I’ll be happier now *and* later, *and* more productive. Win-win!

Hi! I found this video so helpful so thank you. I thought I would share something I do when I really lack motivation and feel like I have no purpose. I called it a ‘reset routine’ in which I’ll open a window, burn some incense, light a candle and tidy my spaces. This includes both physical spaces and my online spaces. I’ll put away clothes, move some furniture I think is in the wrong place, unfollow unhelpful people and focus more on reconnecting myself. This step will usually include a longer shower, skincare, meditation and some light exercise. Whenever I feel stuck in a rut or just feel like I’m missing something I’ll follow these steps. Usually after doing so, it’ll give me some sort of push to get through what I was struggling with or help clear my mind

In terms of time tracking, working in consistent chunks of time, setting your goals for that time at the beginning and honestly reflecting how much you got done (and then taking a break!) has been so, so helpful in teaching me what I can truly expect to get done in an averagely productive 2 hrs.I joined this group where there are online, 2 hr deep work sessions and it's so useful for learning how to plan my time realistically!

This came so perfectly into my life!!! Everything in the video applies to me lol but lacking in purpose has been the big one. Most of my life has just been studying, and even if I did end up studying something I enjoy, I feel so lost in the next step of starting a career because there's nothing concrete to guide me anymore. I just relied on class schedules and assignments to keep me going and make me feel like I had a purpose to strive for. I'm reading Atomic Habits right now and it's amazing! Having systems will definitely be my remedy to my floaty "schedule" and life. Thank you for the video and the worksheets

I find that the pomodoro method has really helped me these past few months. Having that set time to focus on a task & then having the 5 minute mini break as a reward really helps my brain focus. I’m also trying to get in the habit of looking at projects, especially at work, as individual tasks instead of the entire gigantic project. Looking at the project as a whole can be overwhelming and stressful but looking at the smaller, individual tasks really helps. Great video as always, Ro! ☀

Thanks for this video, I just finished part 3 yesterday so I'm excited to complete this 2022 plan! One thing I've been trying to adopt is something my fitness trainer suggested, which is a daily review. At the beginning of the day she'll write down her to 5 non-negotiable priorities for the day and at the end she asks her self four questions: 1. What went well? 2. What didn't go so well? 3. What lessons did I learn / things did I notice? 4. How can I use these lessons to improve myself tomorrow? The intention is to spot any patterns that might pop up and adjust from there. I haven't been able to keep up with it each day but when I do, it's a nice way to reflect on the day and re-assess. Excited to see what this year has in store!

Hi Rowena! I listen to you say in the video that if one person was helped by your worksheet that you would be so happy. I wanted to express my gratitude for your worksheet and guidance. I would say that because I finished your worksheets and because I have been doing the monthly reviews that my entire life has improved. The questions were so well thought out. They really helped me dig deep. When I got to the end of the worksheets I could not believe what I had accomplished. It's now February and I accomplished the goals that I wanted to for basically the entire year. The monthly review helped me create a new iteration and more goals to further my progress. I deeply believe in progress not perfection and you in the system have helped me so much! I think this year I finally starting living the life that I always dreamed of. Thanks ❤️

Ah Ro! You never miss that's for sure. I've been feeling a bit overwhelmed I think these past few days but I'm trying to be a more proactive and productive version of myself this year. Using the time effiently so that I can have more time to do the things I want without feeling guilty about something, just feeling good✨😭 so yea I was doing alright for a few weeks but then my mind started to make few manageable tasks into the a big deal which sidetracked me. So this video is really helpful in first getting me out the gutter😂 i realized that I should start writing more actionable steps and actually show up to them cause sometimes I miss my own deadlines bc of other things like academics. But if I miss it, fine, I'll reschedule it and try again another day. But at the end of the day, i want to make sure I don't become too complacent of myself. I'll keep doing my best!

hi, Ms. Rowena. this is my last semester in law school, and prior to the time i discovered your channel, i was really an anxious person (am still today but less, i guesssss. =>) i was always worrying about what will happen in the future, or was i doing hard enough to be part of the legal community?? was i smart enough?? but you and your videos greatly help me to be patient and kind with my progress. you helped me to realize that it is okay if i make mistakes as long as i learn from them and think of things on how to improve them, if i'm not feeling myself on some days, that to take things one step at a time, to have faith and that there is really no substitute for hard work and perseverance. thank you, Ms. Rowena. so so soooo muccch love from the Philippines. you are an amazing person.

Have you seen the Notion update to include synced blocks??? I’ve really appreciated it as a way to include priorities etc across pages (and it’s cleaner / more aesthetic than doing everything in linked databases)
