It is the big difference between being in your 20s and your 40s+, regarding validation. It is definitely a learning curve. Thats why aging is so great. You stop caring as much because, with time, you realize that validation is irrelevant. Good feedback can be as toxic as bad feedback. Because you rely on others to define who you are. And you need that in you 20s because you dont know yourself yet. The 20s are sooo hard. We have sooo much to figure out and learn and we are sooo impatient. We cant rush the process.

5:19 "Life actually doesn't just have to be about success and failure. It can simply be a serious of experiences to be had."
@lindatellier8686
@lindatellier8686 11 ай бұрын
So then.... Not having experiences would be a failure. There are always needs, goals, etc. And fulfilling or reaching them; regardless of how humble is still a success. We can be successful at running a business, raising a family, growing a flower, cooking a meal, being lazy, and being homeless. It's all the same process. Where we focus our energy, time, and skill, is where we succeed. Or... The entire opposite analogy and we fail. But that's the nuts and bolts of it.

"Be a fool. You will come out the other side knowing something new." I literally wrote this for myself just a few weeks ago. I've started a new job that often leaves me feeling silly and useless. It takes so much effort to even ask a question- I'm so terrified of being dumb. But that's the only way any of this will be worth it. Thank you for a stellar video

Needing people's validation has been an internal struggle for me. I realized that whether or not I get the validation I was looking for, I feel heavy on the inside. My happiness depended on how other people react. It is impossible for us to control others' judgements and reactions toward us. So, when I try to orchestrate getting approval from people, it feels draining. I have been reminding myself that people's opinions are not my responsibility, and I now put my focus on living my life the way I prefer, moment by moment.

Validation is a tricky part of our life. Having none of it or depending too much on it can be damaging for our mental health. But, having some of it is needed for our mental survival. It is indeed a double edge sword.

The point is that we can't just be applauded because we did something. He ( @nathanieldrew ) speaks in a way that his ideas automatically invite an informed audience to question those ideas - duality and dialectic. If we don't question, none of us grows (including him). He plans on having a "salon;" that can't exist without the back and forth of challenge. If he (or anyone) never hears (and entertains) opinions that differ he's just shouting into an echo chamber. I'm proud to be a part, in my small way, of his global salon; and I will always bring to the table what life has shown me. That intermingling is, as they say, fire.

00:40 THANK YOU. This is so rare for people in the media to actually admit. It's always "I went through this, but I´m over it now", which defeats the purpose of trying to level with someone and connect with your audience. Being vulnerable in the present moment is what makes a good role model in my opinion.

2:27 If someone ridicules you for being wrong, ask them why they ridicule, you think when I admit I am wrong this is something I feel negatively about? It is a development, the fact they see it as anything else tells a lot more about them and their fear of failure then it does mean, tell them to look within themselves - they're revealing their failures and their veiw on them - shame.

You're fortunate to be figuring this out at a young age. Too many people spend their whole life worrying about what others think, when in reality most of them are thinking about themselves and not about you. Be who you are and follow your own path; the people who truly do care will respect you for it.

I love how you always post a video of exactly what's been on my mind lately. Thanks for being you Nathaniel, you've been one of my greatest inspirations to put myself out there. To be the fool deal with pain is needed. Deal with harm thrown at you. Not everyone will but some so so a great inner strength needs to be developed. This beautiful video reminds me of my favorite quote: "Often times, a person will think they know you by piecing together tiny facts and arranging those pieces into a puzzle that makes sense to them. If we don’t know ourselves very well, we’ll mistakenly believe them, and drift toward where they tell us to swim, only to drown in our own confusion. Here’s the truth: it’s important to take the necessary steps to find out who you are. Because you hold endless depths below the surface of a few facts and pieces and past decisions. You aren’t only the ripples others can see. You are made of oceans.” - Victoria Erickson

Life is just a long journey of multiple existences where we collectively thrive to learn and expand. Without failure, you can’t grow. Everyone has to go through the whole cycle in order to advance, we all start as fools, some may still be stuck t at the start while others will start head on and embrace it. I was stuck for so many years, but at some point I decided not to be a voluntary prisoner of others.
