When Darwin wrote his Theory of Evolution, it was called the "Mohammedan Theory of Evolution" by John William Draper(Darwin;s contemporary). Please read"Kitab al Hayyawan" by Al Jahiz written over a 1000 years before Darwin's book.

An excellent discussion! I believe the last question was not about consciousness, but about the tendency of species towards improvement, which seems to give a "purpose" to evolution. It is important to emphasize that there is nothing teleological about evolution. A virus has no purpose and does not "know" which direction to evolve. Random mutation gives rise to some changes that could provide survival and reproductive advantage for the current environment, which could cause the particular strain of the virus to be naturally selected. Neither (random) mutation nor (deterministic) natural selection requires an agency or purpose. Nor does the organism have any control over these processes. In fact, that is what makes the theory simple, and yet so powerful. It is also important to emphasize that only the mutation part is random, not the natural selection part. Without that distinction, it would be difficult to see why there is a tendency to "improve" in a given environment. The forward change is preferentially selected (survival advantage) whereas the backward change is not (survival disadvantage). Hence the populations get skewed in favor of the "fittest" as we saw in the example of the peppered moth.

Islam is the 'sir tun s juda' axe that will never permit young intellects to grow in PK. All discourse is within halal-haram, Quran Hadith. Nothing els. Many bright young people, if they don't leave the country, get lobotomized, end up with beard and skull cap discussing halal length of pubic hair. This will never change.

For comparison, a law is at the level of one tree and a theory is at the level of the entire forest. A theory explains the entire process of how things happened where a law is about one tiny aspect of what happened.

1:35:37 washed this lecture again because I love this topic and I love professor hood boy again we should have a biology professor clear up the confusion about the theory and law, for my understanding, LAW is at the granule level, small detail one item level, and a theory is all encompassing at the higher level, You can compare LAW to Les say a paragraph but if the is what the entire book is about like a summary of the thesis of the book is what a theory will be

Sir, not only physics but you are able to explain even biology with the same depth! Darwinism is not only true for living organisms but it can be applied in every field of the existence and natural selection is true in cosmos called cosmic evolution, It is also seen industry called industrial evolution etc etc. Now Darwinism is called Universal Darwinism.Even there is a famous theory called Quantum Darwinism which can successfully explain the phenomenon of wave function collapse !!

A very fundamental mistake this gentleman is making. Natural selection is anything but random sir. Mutations aka copying errors can be random. Natural selection is essentially a driving force that in the envirommemt that over time produces statistically significant changes in the frequency of genes im the gene pool, because random fluctuations do happen in the frequency of genes. But natural selection drives, albeit without intention, the evolution of species. It's not random.
@snaqvi69
@snaqvi69 2 жыл бұрын
Dr Hoodbhoy did describe mutations as random, but he also explained that natural selection is largely deterministic, and depends on the environment. Later in the Q&A session, the distinction between the two steps of evolution (random followed by deterministic) was somewhat lost. Hopefully, Dr. Hoodbhoy can address it in the next lecture on this topic he promised to give.

Hoodbouy your explination is half and of your choice. Theory of evolution is still unable to explain speciation. It fails to explain about why few organisms have few links. Why is man child born immature why is not baby of other organisms immature but man that come late in evolution failed to evolve as mature baby at birth.

great lecture if you are an atheist, yeah the concepts are great we know darwin did something big but for you at what cost because you want to just make science bigger than Islam, even you don't wanna say in words but what doing is exactly that, and parents also want their kids to run as far from the "low esteem and uneducated Islam" because they had done the same, and want to be upscale society members. but Islam never claimed to be a science book, that book is for a HIDAYAT on how to listen to ALLAH's order by following Muhammad (SW). You want to make science so big that Islam dies on its own and still think that science should lead Islam, well "man" can you and your science prove that if you marry your sister or mother is okay like you marry with None Mahram women.? the answer is yours Islam on top and in the light of Islam then science will provide meaningful outcomes without defying ALLAH. without Islam's light science is nothing but satan's toll to use you. listen to Uthman bin Farooq and in efdawah hamza and others.
