But Tony was almost 70 so he was fairly close to the average expiration date of an American male, but I sure as crap don’t have to be happy about it! Lance was a Baltimore man so he belonged to we Marylanders! He was our guy, dang it! At least we still have the great John Astin, another awesome actor born in Baltimore and who did teach acting classes at Johns Hopkins University until he retired in 2021. Unfortunately John is 94 years old so it’s not like we’re gonna get to keep him around for another decade or two, but we can hope and pray that he stays with us a bit longer! But I digress. We miss you, Meatloaf, Tony Todd, and Lance Reddick. May you all rest in peace and may you never be forgotten!

I’m a simple man - I see a new eBay Miniatures Rescue video and I click play! Casey, c’mon - Space Marines are ALWAYS awesome! It does kinda get under my skin that the AoS sculps are leagues above the 40K ones; I guess that’s because they’re trying to get more people to play AoS? Every time I put together an awesome AoS mini (just finished putting our favorite Ratboi Vizzik Skour together a little bit ago) I can’t help but to think how much I wish they would make the 40K and HH minis as awesome as the AoS ones. I’m pretty sure that 40K is their best seller and their main money maker, so why are so many 40K sculps boring when compared to the AoS ones? Shoot, even the lowly Clanrats that came in the Skaventide box are far more detailed than many 40K and HH minis are! As always my friend I love your videos and I’m always happy to see a new one pop up!

Space Marines aren't cool, but they are likeable dorks. The baggy, partially dissolved paint effect is fascinating. Makes me wonder if there'd be a way to use that as an aesthetic, maybe for a Nurgle daemon or something equally gloopy. What if it were just part of the model melted for a mutation? Would probably have to douse it in all in resin or something to stop it immediately disintegrating, but it could be a fun thing to experiment with.

Are Space Marines cool? I was familiar with Fallout and Starcraft many years prior to encountering 40K, so my feelings for Space Marines is affected mostly by their resemblance to Terran Marines and the Brotherhood of Steel. They also remind me a lot of the Scopedogs in VOTOMS. Overall, I like the models themselves much more than the lore behind them in 40K. So as a model I quite like this guy you rescued, in all his classic galore.
@eBayMiniatureRescues16 күн бұрын
Starcraft was big for me, I only ever played Terran back in the day. I've heard, and I have no idea if its true, but Starcraft was supposed to be a licensed 40k game and ended up not working out somehow, so it's very similar to Space Marines, Eldar, and Tyranids. That might be just a rumor, but it's pretty close, and those space marines were always so cool to me.

Can I ask you what primer you use in your airbrush please? I've recently started airbrushing for the first time and I'm struggling to find a good airbrush primer that doesn't scratch off easily and I can't help wondering how well it will hold up over the years, even with the standard acrylic paints on top. ANy advice greatfully received.
@eBayMiniatureRescues3 сағат бұрын
Right now I’m using army painter primer. It works well and I haven’t had any issues. In my experience pretty much all airbrush primer needs a couple of good coats and left out to dry overnight to really be properly set. Even a little bit after priming every primer I’ve tried seems like it might come off, or has if the model gets too wet. The only primer that has been bulletproof for me has been the krylon 2in1 flat black primer. On a hot day sitting directly in the sun that stuff will dry in 15 minutes and never come off. It gives me trouble when stripping minis too. The downside obviously being weather and convenience. In the summer I go through cans of that stuff though, In the winter I just try and get the priming out of the way the day before I want to paint. I hope that helps, I started rambling lol.
@juddery2 сағат бұрын
@@eBayMiniatureRescues Thank you for the quick response and that does help and I would call that useful additional information, rather than rambling. I know rambling and could do it as a national sport, lol. I've used plenty of the GW rattle cans before, but as I've got an airbrush now, I wanted to make the most of it. Plus as you mentioned, such primer does require outdoor use, which is very weather dependent. I'm currently using Molotow One4All paint pen refills, which sprays brilliantly straight from the bottle, but even days later, easily scrapes off with a finger nail, (tested on a hidden area). Maybe I'm not laying it down thick enough though/, or maybe it needs multiple coats. I'm not really sure, as I'm not experienced with an airbrush yet. I've tried a couple of others too and this is the best so far, but compared to the GW rattle can primers, which a can't even make a noticeable mark with my finger nail, airbrush primers definitely don't seem bond well to the minis.

I'm not going to lie. Unaltered and covered in bright silly colors that would make an 80's booger sugar party blush, Space Marines are dumb. They CAN be good, you just have to treat them the right way. At the risk of sounding pretentious, I paint mine like in actual military colors and paint the vehicles like I would any real life scale model. Specifically, I painted my marines in the USMC "Marpat" cammo scheme (stippling brush go brrrrrr), with some light brown accents. Generous use of USMC decals, and cammo netting on vehicles. I also file off all skulls and aquillas (sorry for the heresy).

Who ( with access to an eBay Account to sell and ship an item! ) not only paints a model this bad but on top of that even has the gall to sell it? 🤔 I mean seriously... The Paint Job is about on the level of dunking it into a vat of blue paint, adding a bit of yellow, red and black on some of the still reachable areas and calling it quits ( questioning the whole _"the original painter really trying to push their skills with highlighting and shading"_ - Fuckin' what?! ) which is about the level of a Paint Job of my first 1/35 Tank Model I did when I was in Elementary School 30 plus years ago when KZbin Tutorials were at best someone's fever dream 🤨
