I've lived in Utah for 15 years now and all this stuff still happens on a regular basis. Glad I'm not the only one who thinks the drivers here are terrible. I'll share some of my own experiences. -A lot of people here don't use their turn signal. If you're driving in Utah, always keep tabs on the drivers around you, and be prepared for unannounced lane changes or turns. -Related to the above, it is also common for people to cut across multiple lanes of traffic to get to their destination, even when there are tons of cars behind them. -Cutting across the gore area on the freeways to get to an exit ramp is also very common. Like calm the hell down! you're not driving through the middle of nowhere with miles between the exits! You're in a large urban area! Just use the next exit and turn around! -Speeding is extremely common, but some drivers will take it to the next level by tailgating you even if you're going 10 or more MPH over the speed limit. -Lots of wannabe Fast and Furious drivers, particularly in the Ogden area (for some reason). -My family has had two different cars totalled by bad drivers on the same interchange! (600 North/SR-268 and I-15). Fortunately, no one was hurt. If you're reading this and thinking of visiting, I don't want to discourage you - There's tons of natural beauty here that you should see! Just be very alert when getting on the roads.

Especially in Utah valley shortly after I moved here, there were many, many times where I had google maps tell me to do things like make a right immediately followed by left across 3 lanes of traffic, take a left turn onto a road with a median, drive across a curb to get out of a parking lot, do a u-turn at in intersection with a no u-turn sign, change its mind about whether you should take an exit at the last possible moment, etc. Uber/Lyft makes it so much worse because you're extremely pressured for time. Hi Rob! I’ve lived in Utah all my life and did food delivery for a short before I moved to Texas. I find it absolutely hilarious when people try to tell me that their state has the worst drivers, these people have seen nothing until they actually drive on these roads full of the ignorant people I’ve ever had to bare sharing the roads with. I moved to Texas, I was warned about the horrible drivers there. While bad drivers obviously exist, these people are just bad in the sense that they’re all extremely aggressive. Utah on the other hand has been more or less people not being aggressive, but driving like they’re at beginner levels and uncertain of the roads. I will gladly take Texas over Utah over that.

@MiMi_MoMo Жыл бұрын
I think it’s a combination of our driving test being so easy (for example, I failed the parallel parking portion of the exam and the instructor still passed me…which has caused me to completely avoid driving to places that require it), and Utah’s massive population growth in the past 30-40 years. The constant construction, newfangled road concepts that are rarely tried in other places (have you driven on 54th in Taylorsville/Kearns, for example?), and the constant growth that requires constant road changes confuse a lot of drivers, including myself. If you are a Utah native that’s over 20, you’ve probably noticed that your hometown/city looks and feels completely different than it did when you were growing up. There are simply wayyy more people here than there used to be, and so my personal theory is that a lot of drivers don’t know what to do with that. For example, a place that had a 2-lane road with no shoulder and nothing in sight for miles 10 years ago, now has a 6-lane road with a full shoulder, a bunch of turn lanes, a roundabout, several stoplights, and a bunch of homes, stores and businesses on both sides of the street. And personally, I think all this rapid development has created situations where many drivers who were used to the 2-lane road don’t know what to do with themselves. To put it into perspective, Utah’s population in 1980 was 1.4 million, and most of the state was rural. However, as of the 2020 census, Utah has a population of 3.3 million, and it’s growing more and more rapidly than in the past. These days, the entire Wasatch Front is filled to the brim, and for most of us that have been around since at least 2000, the changes that have occurred in the past 20 years are drastic to say the least. The semi-rural towns of, say, West Jordan, South Jordan and Riverton are now some of the most populated cities in the state and they are only continuing to grow. So, TL;DR, my theory is that Utah’s bad driving stems from both our poor driving tests and our massive population growth that many people don’t really know how to drive in. Sorry for the essay. I hope it makes sense.

The red car at about 4:30 is not doing anything wrong. He doesn’t have to take the right if he doesn’t want to. Right on red is optional

Over several decades, living on the Pacific Coast and having family on the Atlantic Coast, I've crossed the USA and Canada by most major routes at least once. The I-15 corridor in SLC has struck me as being the fastest-driving heavy-traffic location I've ever seen, and also has higher speed limits for crowded locations. I'm usually a left-lane, not-too-much-over kind of driver, but I'm slow by SLC standards.

The term where'd ya learn to drive!! Really fits for those bad drivers. Not to mention how didn't they fail there test, or its just that easy

Ok....yes, there are bad drivers. But you are so lucky to have the beautiful mountains all around.

Hahah I learned to drive in California and when I first drove in Utah I was amazed by how friendly and polite Utah drivers were. I was only tailgated once. By another Californian 🤣

I’m glad you’re the odd person out and had a good experience. Normally everyone is flipping each other off and road raging.

Amazing none of these crashed. I just moved to Utah ~6 months ago. No wonder driving is so stressful.

Such bad drivers in such a beautiful part of the country. Maybe that is what is happening.. everyone staring at the mountains and scenery instead of paying attention to their driving! We don't have that distraction here in Texas. Also, love the reactions! You really need to sell a tshirt with a "WOAHHHHHH" on it. I would definitively buy it.

"everyone staring at the mountains and scenery" No, they are just in LaLa land or on their phone or god knows what else.

You've not been to Denton, then. Holy cow, these drivers are dumber than a box of rocks.

Coming home from a vacation, I knew I had crossed the border into my home state because someone almost immediately tried to merge into us right before a bridge. Almost got shoved over the edge, had to slam on the brakes to not careen off the cliff.

IN mesa Arizona on the US 60 Freeway I once saw a lifted Toyota pickup get shunted buy a rear end collision in front of him just like in your intro he/she cranked the wheel and the car was sliding sideways down the freeway he/she still had the forethought to realize they were still going to collide you can see he/she put it in gear and floored it causing the rear wheels to spin out which brought the back end back around to straight and it missed the collision. that was the most amazing driving job I've ever seen.

So weird seeing so much footage from my home town! It’s even weirder how over the past 2 years I haven’t really seen this kind of driving. I guess I’m exclusively on the roads in the afternoon and evenings so maybe bad drives only come out in the morning lol

This is hilarious watching these stupid drivers pull these outrageous stunts. I’m from San Antonio and the drivers here are pretty bad as well. The absolute, most aggravating thing is when some idiot drives slow in the left lane of a freeway while others have to pass on the right.
