I'm actually genuinely worried that Ubishit will not listen to the overwhelming response to this TG and they will ship it anyway. Look at Conq who had no business releasing after 2 failed TGs and they just said grip it and rip it.

the first conq tg was fine by me, he just needed a roll catcher. then they completely threw their own twist to it and dropped all the fun out of the character and made him mindless unblockables. then they over nerfed him.

@@JasonsWeirdPizz agreed. i enjoyed the first tg version of conq. he kept his shield king gimmick but had more options. i really wish they didnt scrap it. current conq just seems too aggressive for the hero he is supposed to be. worst part for me was allowing him to feint normally. they shouldve just buffed his full block recovery. i liked the idea of a hero who was more defensive even if some say it was boring.

Tbh id rather have my pre TG conq; ubi aint even put the live version of conq on TG before releasing it. I dont get it. They have the resources to test if the player base agrees with the change, yet they just shipped it

GB invlun for mid-chain, non-whiffed attacks sounds perfect to me. Could see this coming from a mile away-- whiffs must be punishable.

They are testing ideas. Heroes can be totally not viable in testing grounds. I think the change would be awesome for baiting and it would work if they just gave everybody dodge attacks.

Does that mean the confirmed damage is a 2nd-chain light? If so, Kick/Jab confirmed damage is now 13 damage up from 12.

@@bruhbroham8760 small damage numbers can have big implications for fighting games since they might push the damage value over a certain treshhold. a couple years back zerks lights got nerfed to deal less damage (I believe it was somewhere in the 1-3 dmg range) and it ended up being a big nerf because it meant the character needed an entire extra attack to land to win an encounter.

I don't want everything to become overly offense based. I like the idea of a game where patience is rewarded and having to take time with fights and having to think before button mashing. I know I know defense meta sucks and offense has to be the way to go. But I do not want this game to become just like other fighting games where everyone is just mashing like 30 hits per second. I want this game to keep a lot of its disadvantages to the defender in a X v 1. I am ok with improvements like hitbox changes, options in chains, dodge attacks, zone attacks. I am kind of looking at it from a fight in person way. If you are being attacked by two people you cannot just focus on one and beat them up without being grabbed by the other. So I feel like I should haveto worry about being grabbed and I should haveto make choices to prevent being grabbed. Lets not take that away.

My biggest issue is that this is like the third bad or underwhelming TG in a row. 9 months of wasted oppertunity to rework trash heroes like HL, Jorm, Valk, Nuxia. This is unaccaptable towards the mains of these heroes.

So one of the things I was curious about is why no one is talking about Hito. With these changes I felt like they were basically unpunishable if you weren't playing a character with a dodge attack. I remember people being super unhappy with hito because they got a heavy on every wrong read on your part, but the way they were balanced was you would get a gb if you made the correct read.

@@theintruder6085 In the TG, he can Sifu stance out of blockstun. That allows him to avoid chain bashes and attacks.

yeah it’d really be a shame if this character who is clearly the best and obviously perfectly designed got a small improvement to her kit. i think instead we should maybe do something which is better for the games balance… maybe make nuxia’s zone slower? that would be good for the balance of the uhh, the game.

You're still going to get interrupted (outside of revenge) with lights and/or heavies if these changes went through, which, yes, would be an 'improvement' interms of fixing the 'problem' of not being able to go on the offense if outnumbered, but would also butcher 1v1s. So I think it's a bad idea, and I REALLY hope the devs won't go through with it. And as a note: Yes, there needs to be better incentives to play testing grounds: I would play if I could match in a reasonable amount of time, and so would others, that is a snowballing problem ofc.

I'm surprised they haven't standardized two things. Blocking in the same direction as dodge, including the window your block stays up, and reflex guard. Reflex is one that many people have been over and I think it should just go. I know people want it for OOS, but I'm happy with it just being removed. When dodging there are many things that would be usefull for the future if your block went to the same side as your dodge. Also, characters like Zhanhu and Kesei get their superior block frames, but also get to keep their guard for the whole dodge, while Valk only gets the superior block window. If it was standardized to have your dodge direction and guard match during a dodge, then externaling against many mixups (bash/undodgeable in particular) would be much less effective. I don't know if Orochi's kick was changed, but most bashes hit if you dodge into them externally. So you have to dodge backwards or away in order to avoid the bash, but you would then be vunerable to an undodgable. I should also mention that I think back dodge shouldn't have a guard period since you would still be able to block to the one side and back dodge the mixup when externaling. I think that it would be a very good change to see in a TG and I would love to see more people talk about it. UBI could allow characters to have their top attack be undodgable without all of them needing it, so they can get around characters like Raider. For example, Orochi's old stormrush would work as a mixup again. Assuming you couldn't react to the left and right side but could to top, then it's a mixup to all heros. I hope you could see the vast potential that this has for the game. We could even get some more diversity with mixups with a change like this, with old stormrush being a really good example I'd like to see return.

As a personal thought, GB immunity should probably only apply to the the startup of chain attacks and the recovery of blockable attacks, unparriable unblockables are very powerful in teamfights but regular attacks don't really do much to force a commitment from other players. I feel like this small difference would help bring the power level of some characters in teamfights closer to the teamfight kings like JJ and zhanhu, because while their attacks wouldn't be as threatening as unblockables they would be safe making them strong ways to spread chip damage throughout an entire fight.

Tbh this tg showed me that the devs actually don't test their shit. I always thought they would test a bit but holy fuck for such a significant change to the game it seems like they either did test enough but were like yeah that's fine (even though it's not) or they didn't test it and so we got this shit. Number one would show that they got incompetent with time and second would just say that they were lazy with the last few tgs. I really hope that it's number two tbh

I understand that the whole 'identity' argument is a double edged sword. Balance is a combination of fairness and fun. It's only fair if everything is the same but then it isn't fun so these interactions like with JJ's sifu really do help fill both criteria. This TG is a mess and it's kind of alarming that not all heroes got dodge attacks for the purpose of testing this out. There is some potential here and I'd like to see a refined version of this with your suggestion that whiff recoveries should still be GB vulnerable. Poor spacing, and evaded attacks should be punished, Revenge could be an exception if they really want to promote the fighting outnumbered aspect. There's a skill to stalling a point, to defending and spacing when in a 1vX. Knowing when to attack and who to attack. I feel like some of that might get too simple if these changes are not refined.

Do this guardbreak changes affect the softfaints into guardbreak mechanic? If it does it would affect some hero kits and their mix up potential a lot like raider and shaman for example.

Making your character immune to GB on hit/blocked attacks would be amazing. I get why they wanted to make wiffs unpunishable by a GB, but I think getting a GB against a JJ that constantly unlocks you would be nice.

They can’t just make a “blanket” change like this. There will need to be so much more tuning in these hero’s. I do like the concept in some situations but.. not the way Ubi implemented them. They went a bit extreme. I really hope they work slowly at these changes and really take their time. Things like this can literally make or break this game.

I know it's just testing grounds but this has to be one of the laziest half assed testing grounds ever. Like they didnt have a plan but were just like "well we have to do something". "So here is a generic not thought out sweeping change. Oh also give HL a dodge attack idk maybe that'll be okay"

I honestly want JJ's sifu stance like changes to other heroes as well that involves special key (nobushi, kyoshin, aramusha, black prior, etc)

1 thing that I could never stand about For Honor's combat is how you can faint your attack on reaction to your enemy's reaction. I'm not a high-rank player, but I think we should have to commit to an attack and as such if we want to input a faint, we need to do that immediately after the attack input, without being able to wait for half a second to see the enemy's reaction. Also, the "Parry" attempt that you can faint in case your enemy fainted his attack too, makes for a rather stale interaction, you often just end up attempting parries and then spamming Faint just in case the enemy Faints too, I know there is a way to punish that by Fainting into Light, but that doesn't change the fact that parry-faints are boring and require no big commitment.

Hey! I saw you mentioned JJ on this video and his new buff. I have picked him up recently and find him a bit too strong. Do you agree? What do you think it should be done to him? For me, they have to keep: - No GB in combo - No GB in end of combo - No GB on a light blocked. and Bashes must always be punishable.

Nobu kick is actually usable in this tg there is no reason whatsoever to have a 600ms bash being gb vulnerable even more so when following with a chain heavy

Ye, they disabled all VOIP with the introduction of Phase1 crossplay. They said we'll get it back when crossplay is fully implemented. I hope that's soon, but got no exact date, sorry.

It would be nice if they made it to where you would get a revenge tag for people missing their bashes and other attacks. Also, you shouldn't be able to be bashed, guard broken etc during revenge. That would help tremendously. Maybe even extend revenge by a couple of seconds

I think the invulnerability was definitely the bad way to go about it. Instead I think they should “improve” the counter GB meaning if you throw an attack/bash/dodge attack/dodge bash & someone GB you either missed or not; then you should have the ability to counter the GB given you timed it as if you were just standing there. The only times GB should be guaranteed is when the opponent either tries to parry or just dodges. Also, when you counter GB there is a immunity to damage window like BP Bulwark Counter. So, that way when your getting ganked there is no free damage when you counter GB & it doesn’t affect duels.

I am working away from my PC this summer. I haven’t played the TG. I can say this though. I don’t want changes to GB. I consistently rely on recoveries be it a whiff or GB vulnerability on heavy attacks to land a GB and land a heavy. It’s how I play the game. In an outnumbered fight where I could gain revenge it seems fair to me that I can’t just throw out attacks or I will die or get GB and then die. Ubi don’t kill the game

What is the point of dodging a whiffed finisher if we can't gb it? And Valk's getting nerfed again? First it was bloodlust reduced from 50% attack bonus to 25 now no gb on superior block? But conq gets infinite orange when no one asked for it.

A lot of recovery cancels aren’t as controversial as they should be anyways. Maybe the exceptions to the rule aren’t healthy. Just like Orochi got his dodge recovery cancels removed after a whiffed bash, aramusha should have his recovery cancel removed after his whiffed bash. Recovery cancels in general have been problematic and they are not a well thought out idea in the first place. I think GB’s should also be faster and have the reaction test window of a light attack. Quick enough to hit and catch you off guard or interrupt an attack, but not entirely unreactable. I think general concept is right, but the implementation could be better. Maybe only having 100ms Gb prone window on heavy finishers and no GB vulnerability after a bash, but just make it counterable. I don’t see why it has to bounce and make the other person have a long recovery.

Good thing in the TG : -Can't be gb on combo -Can't be gb on finisher (but on all finisher is pretty bad) -Can't be gb on a light block Bad thing in the TG : -Bash can't be punish, i think all bash should be punish, at least with a gb -Some move are break, like superior block GB on kensei or Valkirie. But for these two, it's a but to me, and that why it's in a TG

I don’t see this TG as a mess. The TG is designed to test ideas and changes so they don’t have to get everything to work yet (Like valk forward deflect GB). I like that they are testing new ideas even after the core combat update.

That's not the problem, the problem is that they might do what they did with conq, despite the stupid rework they gave him and the response the community had, they ship it anyways and ended with you know, conq ruining the game. So i really hope that they listen to the community this time, cause these changes will definitely kill the game

That's a good change I f*****g love it. Hate players who have offensive properties and keeps turtling you until you are exhausted to finisher movies and f*** you up with a guardbreak. This change is really good for heores with no openers like Centurion who keeps getting punished for whiffs. Devs are finally playing their game and using their brain after all.

This would be a terrible idea in my opinion as some characters don’t have a dodge attack and a dodge gb was, in a way, their counter to bashes. I don’t want every character to have dodge attacks anyway as they can be used as an easy counter to just about every move. However since this seems to be the direction Ubisoft is taking the game expect cent and Jorm to punch you from a dodge attack very soon

Theres like barely a way to punish whiffs, either this chain vulnerability or not being able to cancel oranges needed to happen.. how is it fair heros can cancel oranges yet some characters don’t ever have an unblockable

I always agree with everything you say until you hit “identity “issue. I’ve been playing fighting games for decades, the main thing that keeps people coming back is player expression through the identity of the character. There’s definitely a sweet spot between standardizing core mechanics, and character exploitation of the polls based around said mechanics. But too much standardization in means it doesn’t matter who you play. And nobody wants a game about heroes that don’t stand out because it doesn’t matter.

I'm not being guardbroken when I'm outnumbered. If anything Revenge needs to be tweaked and have some debuffs or properties, like people can't roll from you or just run off and come back. Or be chain staggered in my opportunity to fight back.

They shouldve just made it so crazy GB immunities like that only happen when you hit something regardless if it was blocked or not... In 1v1 youre not going to care that you cant GB someone after THEY HIT YOU but im a 1vX situation you would be able to attack someone eithout immediatelly being GBd regardless if you hit them or not and if it was blocked or not...

they've already explained that their system cant work properly with wiffs as it doesnt know when a player wiffs or doesnt wiff. I will find the article/vid if i can to back up my words. But they gave that reason as to why they didnt make it just that. In my opinions it should be you cant guard break during someones chain only. or maybe leave it as it is.

They explained it for externally hit attacks. It's not that it doesn't work, it's that they don't like how it works. Which I disagree with :D But the way it currently works is completely fine in my eyes. If you didn't hit your locked on target = whiff. If you didn't manage to put your externally hit target into hit- or blockstun, then you eat that GB. I think that's a perfectly fine concept.

People seem to forget that TG is all about testing ideas and concepts. As another comment said, these changes would be really nice to have in Revenge mode since you're considerably outnumbered.

I think a fix might be to have normal gb rules applied to the locked on target, and have the new gb rules (some of them) apply to external gb attempts Also buff fucking revenge with it

Everyone has asked for this. Ways to anti-gank. Against coordinated teams, you literally cannot attack in a 1v2 or else you will be putting yourself into a gank setup where you will lose half your health more often than not. Should know the feeling if you've ever run into a competitive 4-stack, or any competitive duo in 4s. You literally don't get to play the game. The idea and reasoning is there. It's just that this implementation is garbage.

Why not just make it so people external guardbreaking you bounce but whoever you’re locked onto will not? That fixes the problem without making duels an absolute nightmare
