7:29 You unexhaust an ally in the middle of the visit (round/hand). You can use up to one ally ability before a dialogue (trick), but you only unexhaust after the visit (round/hand) is complete. Minor rules correction, but great clear and quick gameplay explanation. Helps me affirm that this game is for me. I'm definitely a "solo player" and enjoy trick-taking games, and this game definitely taps into both well. The last couple dialogues (tricks) generally have a little bit of anxiousness and the ally abilities provide a lot of variety each game.

@@grog3514 Good point. By that metric, maybe Beyoncé should run for president.

@@sapien01010 I agree. She is actually capable of forming coherent sentences so by current standards she would easily get 91 gorillian votes.

Wow, 4.5!! Caught me by surprise! Now I’m really excited to try out myself! I have it unplayed on my shelf, arrived the other day. Indeed, the card quality really impressed me too. I think I’ll give it a go today. Thank you for the review, Alex :)

It's such a fun little game, easy to table, plays quickly. Really good at what it's trying to do

I’m not a trick taking player, but I’m very much a solo card gaming player, and you have me sold. Any idea when it’s coming to retail?

unless I really didn't understand the rules, you had already won the second play. with the blue one you broke suit into the blue "boss" so would you not have won that then?

Can you give a time stamp to what you're talking about? I don't know what 'the second play' means. EDIT: Ah, I think you mean 7:40. Yes, that blue card is a trump, so should have gone to the winning pile.

Impressive core gameplay mechanics but it’s begging for a bit more stuff around it to give it longevity on the shelf

I’m really enjoying this game! However, I’m so disappointed when I lose a conversation. I want to get the perfect number of tricks every time!

That's what I'm talking about! My only critique is I kind of want to be perfect but statistics get in the way of that

You actually won the second conversation! The one blue was trump suit.

Since you insisted on being 100% unlucky on your first play, I'll go with my opinion that you actually could have played it better. If you had played your 3 pink to beat the 8 black instead of your 6 blue, you would have won your 2nd trick. From there, your only "dangerous card" is the 6 blue, and the only way to lose was if you had drawn back to back 3 blue, 4 blue and 5 blue. The odds of that happening are way less than the odds of drawing a single card that can make you lose, you have to draw all 3 before you have the chance to get rid of one of them. And you wouldn't have had to use your allies that introduced extra randomness. We'll blame doing it in front of the camera, but that wasn't just unlucky 😅

I know it doesn't matter in terms of gameplay but he is describing the theme in the opposite manner. Instead of battling rulers you are having conversations trying to persuade them to NOT go to war. That is why when you win a ruler over they become Allies in your cause for peace. It's a small detail but I love a boardgame that seems peace and diplomacy instead of war and destruction

When you drew that one of eyes, it was a trump and should have won the trick😅
