I’m a 31 year old mom of 2. Idk where I fit in to anything but I’ve never had more intense ambition than in the last few years. I’ve felt very behind due to staying home to raise the kids. I’ve felt a lot of regret, guilt, shame. But I’m grateful to have had the time to invest into my kids and their well-being. I know I will not get these years back, for better and for worse. I am definitely ready to start my own career again and have been feeling immense pressure. Thank you for this video that highlights the importance of the mental game- I think we all want to pretend we are emotionally unaffected and can all hustle through everything as if it’s a breeze. Even if we are screaming inside and feeling inadequate beyond measure. You put everything I’ve been worrying about lately into words and it feels incredible to finally hear some reassurance that things can still be okay, and that there is lots of hope and life left in me. As a woman especially I tend to feel I’m too old to become successful at 31. But this is a good reminder that success can come at any age, from any where. And that there’s hope, and no need whatsoever to give up. I also loved the part about consistency and sticking with your original plans and goals!!! I am a shiny-new-thing squirrel. It’s my worst quality. You have inspired me to keep going with commitment of completing my analyst certification. Instead of going to “try something new” yet again before I’ve even started.

Thanks for this video. I started my family at my age of 26 and really need sufficient income to support my family. I got my CFA charter out of my enthusiasm in investment and higher chance to make good income to support my family. Unfortunately I still have hard time to find a job in investment banking probably due to my age and not even think of so-called avg. income of being a CFA charterholder. I probably only have less than last 5 digits of avg. income and certainly an outlier to drag down the avg. income.

Interesting topic considering your recommendations the past 6+ months are down by 50%. I think the lesson learned is to stop trying to time the market since it's a losing strategy.
@LarryCheungCFA2 жыл бұрын
Sorry, but what you say makes you seem shallow. My focus is on research and not just "recommendations". And also, you're judging me while some of my stocks are down 50%. But will you congratulate me when I'm up 50%? Think longer term Rob. This is the stock market. If the Nasdaq was up 20%, and my stocks are down 50%, then that's a different story and I'd agree with you. But since that's not the case, I'd encourage you to focus on the bigger picture. Cheers.
@robcanad2 жыл бұрын
@@LarryCheungCFA The NASDAQ is down 20% from its highs and the Dow only about 10%. My main point being that all this research has only served to prove that timing the market is a fool man's game. Warren Buffett said that it's futile to try to pick the bottoms or tops of the market or any given stock. This is not shallow thinking at all but comes from tried and proven success of the most successful investors.

Great topic Larry. We can learn about trading, stocks, market dynamics etc all we want but at the end of the day it doesn’t mean much if we are ‘failing’ in our mental state. Having all the money in the world won’t be worth much if we have poor physical and/or mental health. Take care of yourselves everyone.
