This isn’t the first time that Lamar has stirred up controversy by directly referencing his peers. In 2013, he delivered a scene-stealing verse on Big Sean’s “Control,” also featuring Jay Electronica, running down a list of rappers and stating that while he has love for all of them, he sees them as competitors and intends to bring them down.
While Lamar’s verse on “Like That” was certainly the most newsworthy moment from the album, Future and Metro Boomin’s long-awaited collaborative project “We Don’t Trust You” arrived on Friday, marking the first of two releases from the pair. The second, which is currently untitled WAS released on April 12.

I think a lot of it comes down to modern American ethics. People in America no longer respect each other. And we Gen-X parents kinda forgot the word “no” and let our kids get away with everything. That has been the downhill of America ever since. It has in fact gotten worse. I think that is a lot of what is going on. The money thing, too.

Kendrick is in his right to not have wanted to be cool with Drake after years of going back and forth. Keep your olive branch, I don’t want it. Certain things have been said and it’s no coming back. Some of us are just wired that way. Once you’re on our list, it’s hard to come off it.

Great watch along but you are getting the wrong impression from the narrator but the narrative that Drake mainly helped Kendrick on his come up is utterly false. Everyone in hiphop knows Kendrick's trajectory was already up with or without the tour invite and feature on Kendrick's album. It was a feature and thats all. All that buddy buddy tale is a false one. Do more research om these two.

I agree that it more than you think. Kendrick’s music why he stepped away. Imagine all the artist who turned out to be someone totally different after a number of meetings. I’m sure the same thing can be said about Jay Z and P. Diddy in some magnitude.

16:03 this video is great without the "emotional understanding segment" as I would call it. Clarity comes when you separate the emotions from the principles and the principles of hip hop don't care for how you catch feelings. It would never be this big thing if Drake never got in his feelings about that one verse and the fact that he did just further proves that he's not actually part of the culture he claims to love because of he was, he would've understood what the verse meant. He took a personal hit when it was more about giving a boost to hip hop.. L

We were stolen and sold, and everything from us was stolen. Hip Hop which White America HATED at first, is still here and now the biggest music genre in the world. It’s sacred to us and we can’t be faulted for guarding it the way we do. If you know music, other genres have been stolen already. We refuse to let it be taken and that’s the issue with Eminem. He will not come in our thing and be crowned the king of it. Especially when there are other artist equally and better than him on a rapping skill level. Artist like him and Drake outsell often simply BECAUSE they can get a larger white audience by default. But Drake not always being accepted is because of his character!! We see him as a phony chameleon. It’s his character, not his white mom.
