Looks good apart from the bonnet scoop which is totally out of place on an LJ and looks awkward.

I saw an original XU-1 a feed back cruising around Eltham. I was surprised at how small it looked sitting next to a Subaru Impreza.

If you put the skin of an XC GS onto the Torana frame , they look awesome...

The prototype XU-2 had two fuel filler caps - one in each C pillars.

If it's an XU-2 replica why does it have XU-1 decals?

Love it but that hideous bonnet scoop has gotta go

There was never going to be an XU2.

Wrong. There's was 2 made. Everyone knows that. Once they were told that there's no way they'd be allowed on the road they converted both prototypes back to XU-1's and put the 2 x 308ci engines into 2 hq Monaro's that were sold off. How do I know this? Because Peter Brock told me when I met him

@@simmov9489 Not doubting the V8 LJ Torana was built, they were built in 1973, I was 22 then. My point is they weren't called XU2, the code name was XW7 V8 LJ GTR Prototype. From memory more than 2 were built, but my memory's not up to recalling the actual number produced. The XU2 monicker became a press name, much the same as the first Holden, the 48-215 was called the FX. A Holden dealer in Adelaide supposedly built several Torana S models up into 308 V8s, which legend has it were exported to Police Forces in NZ and South Africa. True or not, I can't confirm. There was a lot of rumour and misinformation around then, everyone seemed to have a relative who worked at GMH and knew this or that, the stuff of rumour mongering. I believe the GMH built V8s were crushed or returned to XU1 6 cylinder spec, so the rumours at the time went. One fact I am sure of, I never saw a brand new, 308 V8 LJ Torana in a Holden Dealer showroom, more's the pity. Evan Green and his supercars scare put paid to that.
