These were everywhere in the 90s for sale. I drove one in this color TUXEDO BLACK on a test drive from a dealership in Mornington Victoria. It was for sale for 18.000 dollars which back in those days was a decent chunk of change. The salesmen rolled up looking like Gordon farkus from the classic BIG STEAL Australian movie. Aviator sunglasses blow waved hair suit typical sleaze ball. I had a V8 Torana hatch at the time so I was determined to give this thing a good thrashing which I did. Went extremely hard and handled WAY better than my Torana. But the killer was they were being stolen at a rate of knots and the insurance company didn’t want to touch them. One quote I got was 2000 dollars a year. That was the end of that idea. I’ve still got a genuine matching numbers 308 VK Calais in maranello red so keeping the holden flag waving.
