I am a ford flavor guy, seventy three now, and the fifty seven is one of my favorite fords. I owned several back in the day so know this one is in really decent shape. I think that most of us know that when we spend money on our projects, we are lucky to get our money back. This one might be different as it is quite well preserved. I still have my hand in doing some repairs even though I am in hospice and not able to move anymore. I myself am a two door sedan kind of guy as I raced them for the most part. I knew of one of these, owned in New Jersey. It was kept till 1963 when the owner got in and stuck his foot through the salt-riddled floor. V8 three on the tree, 9 passenger. It had a different interior from the one you have.

I bought my 57 Fairlane in 67 for $135. Blew the engine in SC in 70 and towed it out in the woods. Maybe it's still there!!

A 1957 Ford Fairlane was my very first car. It wasn’t new, I bought it in 1962 from my first professional ET paycheck. Over the years I owned it , the car needed much work. It was the car ai learned auto mechanics on. My best friend at the time owned a similar car, souped up. He taught me how to jeep it running. With all the aggravation that car caused me, it was my favorite machine, a 301 V8, with a three speed stick on the column.

Electric wiper motor is easy to locate for '57-'59 Fords. '55-'57 Chevy used the same electric wiper motor. They were made by Trico as a dealer installed option.

When I was 5 years old , my Dad did advertisement for the Quincy Patriot Ledger. He had me and my 2 sisters in the back with back seat down and the family dog. We set up plastic bowling pins. And the play was so much room in back you can use it for a bowling. The dealership the add was for. Was Jannell Ford on route 18, So. Weymouth Mass. We actually bought one. Was that sorta pink creamy and white 2 tone. Those were the days. I just looked up Jannell. They started in 1921, and are no longer in So. Weymouth , but moved to Hanover MA.

I thought you said that you Swapped a diesel engine , I drove all those 57 Ford in my youth. Also when I was 14 years old I worked in a junkyard . We have cars from the 40th 50th and 60th. I can find that 57 wagon for less than 3 thousand right now running great. I watch KZbin for years and one of my pastime is watching junkyard auctions and liquidation. I feel for ya. That car is barely worth 40K completely finished with body work paint and trim. Might as well keep it and finish it. You won't sell it at that price. What you got into it doesn't matter. The market dictates the price. The average retail on it is 22K.

My parents bought a new 2 door Ranch Wagon in 1957. Between the rust and the rattles he said it was the worse car he ever had. It was traded for a new 2 door Chevy wagon in 1960.

WOW, ] hope he finds a "serious offer". Looking at maybe 16g from NADA have to take off for rust, paint. Lose value for 6cyl and 3 speed. What ever is wrong with the engine will need fixed also. Hagerty does not "give" him as much. Neat car but 4 door wagons with a 6 and three speed are just not that sought after. Best of luck to him, hope he finds the right buyer.

my reality is the yes, if i put 22k into a restoration and then five years of my labor that yes, it should be worth at least that much, but if you are the type that thinks you're intitled to down play some one else project so that you look like an expert, you're fooling noone. If you read the descriptions of each section on the car, view the photographs you may being to appreciate the efforts of others and maybe then you can offer something other than negativity to those who may be contemplating a restoration project started with a junkyard example.

Just finished a 66 Mustang convertible. Have about 60k and 3 1/2 years into it. Love the car as it is built. No way I would be lucky enough to get what I have in it from purchase to back on the road. All the commenters about the engine noise have never owned one or heard one in person. One the camera makes it sound louder than it is. Two. the 223 is a solid lifter engine with valve clearances no different than a 235 Chevy of that era. They tick. They're supposed too. An occasional routine valve adjustment is normal maintenance for these engines and may be in order post break in on a rebuild. Bet if it was a 70 Boss 302 Mustang or Z28 idling in a video you wouldn't hear anyone flapping about the lifters.

That's a nice car my father had one of those but we had to Country Squire with the big V8 and all the options on it this one here is a plain Jane and I don't think it's worth that kind of money but it could be and the reason being that it could be worth that much money is one reason there's not that many of them cars floating around that are still running like that and it is a car that is collectible but beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. A company like ronjonsurfshop might be a hundred grand for that car

The Ford Y-block had mechanical valve lifters. Clickety-clack is is the nature of the beast.
