I just finished watching this documentary and It killed me... It made me realize how brave these people are...and how lucky I am with the live I have, simply because I'm born in the right place. Every one has it's own "problems", but watching this made it very clear our every day problems are NOTHING compared to this. 10/10 for bravery = one of the best documentaries I have ever seen.

This breaks my heart... War is a terrible thing. I almost lost my entire family in Liberia. I watched my mum cry almost every night for her friends and family that disappeared and she never saw again. She would hang out at the Liberian embassy just waiting on news of family and friends. It took her years before she was able to return to the country again, but my dad has never been since because of the trauma. It breaks my heart that as human beings we have to go through this; experience the tragedy and evil of war and it's aftermath before we realise how destructive it is. We need to cultivate a love for hamanity, not nations, nationalities or race. May the human prevail ♥️

The ending reminded me of the stories my parents would tell me when they were forced to flee their homes, and life as they knew it only with the clothes on their back. *Please, realise that 'refugees' don't choose to voluntarily leave their most beloved place *HOME*, to end up in a strange country were people are constantly telling them to "go home"! If it was possible, we would do it in a heartbeat* My point is be kind and compassionate to others because you do not know their struggles or their stories.

UNBELIEVABLE! I saw this last night, and there was a Q&A with the Director, her surgeon husband Hamsa, and their two friends who feature in the movie a lot. Incredible bravery, and devastatingly sad, I could barely ask a question I was fighting back the tears. Really beautiful, sad, and very much not over... Kate Blanchett was there with them, to introduce and to ask questions, and before the film started I was excited to know I was going to see her on stage, but after the film, I was completely blown away to see these incredible brave Syrians in real life. Bless them, I wish I could hug them. XOXOX

It will be a beautiful movie. And at the same time it makes me wish that I could curse everyone that allowed this massacre to happen. I've grown up in America hearing the phrases, 'Never again' and 'Not on our watch'. Believing that's what the US stood for, what the UN stood for--then Cambodia...then Rwanda...then Darfur. By the time the massacre in Syria started, what I knew was this: many innocent people would die, and afterward we would be giving Oscar nominations to beautiful movies that documented our failure, as a species, to protect the innocent from cruelty and death. It will be a beautiful movie. But no one should forget that we have built a world where 'Genocide documentary' can become its own genre.

@@thatman4924 actually, this whole thing started because a small percentage of the population had the money and therefore the power. Most of the population was barely passing by infact the unemployment rate was at least 55% and jobs were hard to find. The Arab springs started peacefully by merely wanting the president to step down . He refused and attacked the people so what do you expect them to do? Lay there and die? They fought back..
@thatman49245 жыл бұрын
Leen Khankan And now the homeless percentage is over 60%. Arab spring was a propaganda, you have no clue how much money U.S. put into Arab spring. A protest is a protest untill there is no violence. If violence starts from government side that means you can't reason with the leader or government. Best you can do is stop paying taxes and at worst go jail for few months for tax evasion or do a transport strike. You people instead destroyed your own country. Now enjoy living life of refugee in other's country being humiliated by them.
@leenkhankan78935 жыл бұрын
@@thatman4924 Yes I agree, now they are unfortunately refugees. But If everyone were to think that way no change would have happened. You can't avoid change. If you do, you could avoid much needed results Based on your argument it would have been better to avoid having the French or the English Revolution. They caused a lot of deaths and immigration after all. Thanks to the English Revolution, in which a lot of people unfortunately died and some puritans fleed to the US and later became known as the pilgrim fathers, England has its' parliament today. If the English Revolution had not happened and If people had thought "it's better to just not do anything drastic" , things would have been much different and not in the good sense. I agree on the fact that they could've not payed the taxes, but I don't agree on the thought of "I won't do anything because I don't want to suffer and fight for a good future" . A good future has to be EARNED. Yes it will be hard, yes times will en difficult, yes people will be humiliated, but that will be worth it for a future in which there is at least social equality . Especially in Syria.

There is certainly a moral duality that seems to be present. I think her intention was wholistic in this though. I believe she loves her people and her country so much that she feels that simply running from the matter (even to save her daughter) would be selfish in its own way and an insufferable loss to tyranny and fear. I think she feels that this was her opportunity to show the rest of the world what is happening in Syria, in all it brutal honesty. She hopes this will bolster the support for a revolution, internally and externally. I find her courage, selflessness, and pursuit of the truth inspiring.

Ankh Morpok absolute bullshit. Armed religious fanatics took up weapons against the Syrian government & then refused every offer of negotiation toward constitutional reform, preferring to invite in foreign fighters & allow other nations to invade Syrian territory. And their friends who also helped and died. True heroes. For those who don't know, the war is still going on since 2011. And freaking Vladimir Putin visited Syria on January 7, 2020, and met with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad (who strangely, was born on Sept. 11), where both the leaders discussed military reports on the current situation in different parts of Syria. These people have a nice reserved spot in hell.

Just the trailer makes me cry!!! So sad. If only people could see wars bring death and unhappiness
@LLindsey14277 ай бұрын
What these people are experiencing is beyond horrific, we all have to do something, more than a decade of this suffering…..war, crimes against humanity, cholera, earthquake and now near starvation. There is polarisation politically but we can’t allow for this. There has to be a way to put down arms and get in aid.

@@thatman4924 wow... Stupid mentality. Would not be surprised if you were American.
@thatman49245 жыл бұрын
Sean Why the army supported the government then? Why was there no protest like not paying taxes? transport strike? civil disobedience movement? No, government did not revolted against Syrians, it took hard action against those who were influenced by U.S. spring propaganda and were in bed with Israel. They were low in number, and when protest didn't work, they resorted to violence.

Alexandre Kautzmann No, I'm not. I hate what Americans did there. Many of these fools fell for U.S. propaganda of democracy.
@alexandrekautzmann9335 жыл бұрын
@@thatman4924 So they better keep on dying to poverty and get massacer by Assad? I'm not convinced. Yes this may ( I'm not convinced either) have been supported financially by the US or idk but whatever. Tell me one democracy working... No one. There's no true democracy. Still, it's better than dictatorship that can't handle an extremist insurgency for years on half his territory and keep on killing his own people for their ideas. Everything is part of a movement you have to start somewhere. Yes it may be corrupted, yes it may be just for oil (to change) but those people revolted as they were unhappy. If they still are unhappy (mainly the case in corrupted democracy) well they will revolt again....

Such a moving ,heartbreaking film. How the hell does this trailer get 74 dislikes?
@samijamal33834 жыл бұрын
Those who disliked the trailer are supporting this massacre considering them the current ruling system represented by Bashar Al_Asad
@dalexplym48824 жыл бұрын
@@samijamal3383 Horse crap... The massacre is entirely due to the USA and it's Zionist and Wahabist agents. The dislikes are people who recognize that 80% of Syrians wanted (and still want) no part in a "Peaceful revolution" that involved an invasion by Salafist extremists who have no tolerance for Christians, Jews, or anyone else who has differing beliefs. The filmmaker is like you -- a brainwashed victim of propaganda and murderous U.S. meddling.

I was numb after watching this yesterday. At times I changed the channel unable to watch, and then realised how easily I could escape from this trauma I was staring at. Just looking at what Syrians had to go through and are going through, they didn’t even know if the next step would be their last. The death of that young child killed in a blast with his 2 brothers kissing his forehead and crying broke my heart. May god have mercy on all who are suffering.

Nimonimo Ali - Our pain is nothing in comparison and yet we feel sad. Thank-you for your feedback on the film. It’s heartwarming to know that people recognise devastation, despair and calamity when so many people dismiss it as propaganda, or that it’s not in their backyard so why should they feel anything. How we treat the vulnerable is how we define ourselves.

This movie really affected me and I just had to find a way to help these poor victims of war. I found this charity that is helping Syrian orphans called Nu Day Syria. They're a reputable charity that has helped almost one million people - feeding, clothing, and educating orphans. Google them, they're doing amazing work.
