Watching this you come to the sudden realization that a handful of folks can make better Star Wars content that billion dollar studios. At first you're annoyed, then it dawns on you: We have the technology to tell the stories we want to tell without asking for permission and letting the public at large judge it on its merit. Well done AFK!
@JohnDlugosz Жыл бұрын
The same thing has happened to Star Trek and its fan films. Collectively, these are more than just franchises -- they are present-day mythology, and the stories are owned by the people who revere them, tell them, and add to them. That's why, unlike most franchises, fans get *very angry* at the current copyright holders for mistreating it.

You know, it’s actually pretty historically accurate for two patrols on enemy sides to come across each other and just… not fight.
@EvertfromNederland Жыл бұрын
yep. In fact in WW1, There where so many wolves displaced from their habitats and drawn to the dead body's on the battlefield, the Germans and Russians decided to quit fighting each other for a few days and focus on clearing the wolves from the battlegrounds before they commenced fighting. EDIT: i did some digging. It's fact there where many wolves attracted to the bodies and also that they where displaced and formed a threat to both German and Russian soldiers. So it is not unreasonable to think that at certain moments both parties had a common enemy they'd rather be fighting. However the "wolf truce" i described seems to be romanticised and is never confirmed by Russian reports (like the Christmas truce was). I seem to be mislead a bit by news articles that where quoting eachother rather than independant sources. So I am backtracking a bit here. I don't think it's accurate to call it an actual "truce". Sorry to have mislead you
@dylanbasstica8316 Жыл бұрын
@@EvertfromNederland Infact there were multiple truces during world war one, goes to show you humans as a whole don't really want to kill each other, I seen a documentary where an american vet said both sides hadn't received orders in days and some englsih speaking german came over to their trenches one day to compliment the smell of the breakfast they were cooking, apparently they ended up befriending the entire german platoon, they played sports partied, and ate together, then the americans one day were finally given orders and had to kill the men they had just become such good friends with, just goes to show if were left to our own individualism and not the orders of a small subset of power hungry politicians humans tend to come together rather than fight one another.

@Narkomancers What? A few fatcats at the top of a pyramid (scheme) giving lethal orders to their subordinates in a delegating fashion until the only ones left actually losing anything are the ones at the bottom? Huh.. Sure would be a shame if that pyramid were turned over sideways...
@OttoTheWeim Жыл бұрын
This is correct. Many times a posted soldier would be given an order to guard the perimeter or the like. If an enemy patrol went by but wasn’t attacking they would many times let them go because their orders weren’t to just kill every enemy. They saw them simply as other kids like themselves and not an enemy at that moment.

What we call "technicians" in cinema actually are artists creating through machines and programs. When skilled and talented, they reach deep down into our emotions... think about Wall-e or C3PO, there you have two brilliant exemples. And those troopers just add another one.

Minutes after arriving at our house ... he sprayed my brand new monitor & ruined all the buttons on the front. (They never worked again.) I wound up naming him FNG because of that. I had to sorta lie to my daughter about what his name meant though; I told her that he was a "friendly new guy."

I like how he gave the stormtroopers lots of personality. They are usually so drone like. First time I've ever seen a stormtrooper and thought there's real people under that armor. I always had the impression of cold drones or clones who don't think for themselves. The way the one crossed his legs and reacted to the Jedi all but took the armor right off him. Oh come on, I kinda like the new Star Wars content. It's not perfect, sure, but it's not as bad as most people say. Okay, I admit that Obi-Wan is too much of a pu$$y, but still..... not as bad as it's made out to be.
I only just discovered this series now. Man, this takes me back to the early days of youtube where some other creative types made a full-on stormtrooper production called IMPS. There was also another one by another crew set on Tattooine that was set up like a reality cop show following stormtroopers around. They were both great and I wished there could have been more. Now that wish is realised. And I know it's a cliché at this point, but it's still true ------ this is infinitely better than anything disney has ever done.
