For the folks with no resolutions this year...

Is this my soft year? Maybe. Once again, I find myself with a distinct lack of goals for the year. I've got my few big ones, sure. I'm also excited to continue to grow my channel and community here but honestly y'all, I'm just chillin'.
I think it's okay to want a repeat year or a soft year where you more or less just coast. I rounded out the year in Mexico City with friends and decided to vlog, and simply exist. The agenda - non-existent. The goals, irrelevant. The last few years for me have been quite epic so I'm okay with a relatively uneventful one. #softlife #softyear

Love this mentality! Ever since my goals were shot down in 2020 due to the pandemic I’ve come to realize the value of no longer setting hard & fast “New Years Resolutions”. I have things I want to accomplish of course but now I give myself grace and try not to dwell too much if it doesn’t happen on the timeline I expect it to.

I fully understand. I too am a Virgo. I do not like surprises. I like plans. I need to be mentally prepared especially when intermingling with others. But I'm not a new year goal setter. I'm a birthday to birthday dreamer. I really just wanted to tell you again that I am so proud of you and all that you have accomplished. You are such an inspiration and excellent storyteller. I know you couldn't hear my daughter and I in the house cheering you on as we watched Say It Loud on PBS. I'm telling everyone to go watch it. I'm going to miss you leaving Tejas but I'm excited for the journey. When September rolls around, I may dream up a few travels of my own. We wish and pray the best for you and your family.

Honestly moving took up my entire 2022 (and some of 2021, and some of 2023 so far) between looking, planning, doing, and the aftermath, so having 'move across the country' as your 2023 goal sounds like plenty to me!

All my real goals are related to taking better care of myself because grad school is grad schooling. It's hard to resist getting sucked into a soul-crushing pace of work in academia, but I know I won't be a happy nor productive human if I let that take up too much space. Cheers to a content 2023!

2022 was a year of upheaval for me so the idea of taking life at a slower pace feels good to me. One of my friends is going through a guided sabbatical right now, with a coach and everything. It took her 6 months to even START to feel rested.
