There is also a detachment in shooting with film, like shooting a bow and arrow. You may well miss, which heightens the moment. But the flagship camera’s 120 frames per second could be considered unsporting. Also, manually focusing a lens draws us closer to the essential experience that photography is, drawing with light.

I love this analogy with the bow and arrow. It is true that digital photography offers the immediate feedback which can be tremendously helpful and also satisfying, but knowing your chances are limited to capture the scene you wants definitely does heighten the moment since there is more at stake and you are more invested, literally and figuratively.
