Totally agree. I love the commentary but the music is a complete distraction. Shame, it's not even bad music, but the video's ruined.

I love Minolta SRLs and many of their lenses, I have most that I have been able to collect in my search for Rokkor lenses over the course of many years. The XE-7 (XE-1 in Europe) has the smoothest film transport of any camera I know of. It has a very nice design and despite its weight (the Olympus OM-1 was already marking an era with its dimensions and lightness) it is very ergonomic for the functions it offers. I have several and unfortunately they all suffer from problems when measuring light, they have perhaps the first matrix lightmeter of all cameras but since it is analog they suffer from miscalibration problems due to the oxidation of the contacts with the resistors. The differences are not linear and can vary as much as two stops. After cleaning the contacts I got better readings but they are still unreliable. I don't know what the other visitors of your content will think, but the high volume of the background music bothered me a lot because I couldn't hear what you were saying. Thank you so much.

I recently found an XE-5 with a 35-70 Rokkor at Goodwill for almost free! The film wind lever didn’t feel right, but I took a chance, picked it up and sent it to Garry’s. Less than a $100 in, I have a camera that works perfectly with my trove of Rokkors, a passable normal range zoom and the same feeling of nostalgia you were talking about. My first “real” camera was an SRT201. Thanks for the review!

Minolta missed a home run with this unit. Plastic components scream I am cheaply built, regardless of accuracy. Self-timer lever, on off lever, and the pentaprism cover are the plastic items to which I refer. All a shame they couldn't have been metal to match the brass plated left and right top covers

The Celtic 35mm is a fantastic lens, I got one several years ago for 35 US dollars, now I think is over a hundred but still cheaper than the Rokkor 35.

Hey, guys. My Minolta XE7 gets its mirror locked up whenever I shoot on AUTO mode. It works just fine on manual. Now I know this is usually a sign of low battery, but mines are brand new, so that's not the case. Even if I shoot on auto mode and the mirror locks up, if I just change it to manual, the mirror will come down right away. Does anyone know what could it be?

I would try a new battery just in case. If not, see if a camera tech can look at it.

No, Rokkors with "X" do not have better anything. The "X" indicates that they were for the American market. Minolta was really weird with these things, same cameras have 3 names etc..
