I recently bought one of these cameras with the 50mm 1.7 lens. It really is a wonderful camera, and in my case, the metering proved to be spot on. I took it hiking recently, and every single shot was good. Easy to focus, easy to use. I had a Minolta XG-A when young, so the brand caught my eye first. Then the price! These don't seem to be as popular as other film cameras from the era, so (as you say) you can get great lenses for them easily and cheaply.

I loved my XE but it was a little heavy, so I eventually replaced it with the equally fantastic XD-7. Two incredibly refined cameras.

I just picked up one today along with a 50mm f1.4 MC Rokkor-X PG. The lens has the cleanest glass I have ever seen on an older camera. The camera has some wear but seems to work fine.

That high speed shutter you are missing is still half a decade away from XE production run.

Considering the cost of trying to get my hands on a Nikon FA or FE2, my XE-7 was a bargain and I love it.

With TTL metering you can easily get past the 1/1000 "limitation" via ND filters. Low light photographers really benefit with the extra low end speeds and a very special shutter. Top camera!

Hi, thanks for the great video, I watched a lot of your reviews. I have a silver XE-1, I almost wanted to sell it, but then it feels really nice and the shutter is so smooth. Mine sadly has a minor issue with the advance lever. It works, but sometimes it catches on something and blocks for a second, then I have to go back and forth a little and it works again. Then 10x it works without a problem again. Have you had that issue or maybe know an easy solution?

For someone who uses range finders 1/1000s should be more than enough or I misunderstood and you only sell range finders and don't use them..

Minolta worked with Leica on several cameras. This one surprised me on how smooth and quiet it is.

@@danc2014 I know that, but very few knows it ! I think fewer knows that Minolta (which now are Sony !) also made Lenses for Leica, fx the R 24mm 2.8
