Jokes aside in my other post, City have no width in the attacking third and are far too predictable with their patterns of play. And I have no idea how Haaland has not lost his mind on the pitch yet. Because the likes of Silva, Grealish, Doku, Savinho, and Walker refuse to provide first time service to Haaland when the ball is clearly on. Instead, they constantly put their foot on the ball, recycle possession, and allow opponent’s back lines to reset and defend facing away from their own goal. City are far too slow, risk adverse and predictable in the final third. And teams have figured out that City’s wide players are entirely predictable at this point.

hard to find haaland when he deep buried in top defenders pockets all the time
@Photosoflife6 сағат бұрын
@dalymufc You need to not only reread my post but actually watch City matches much closer. The problem is Haaland is regularly getting into dangerous spaces if you watch him off the ball. But his teammates are constantly opting to play safe passes instead of feeding him when the ball is clearly on to him. Aside from De Bruyne, his teammates are not willing to risk losing possession playing higher risk passes to him. But that’s making City’s attack far too predictable and toothless.

Doku, Grealish and Rico attempted a total of one cross between them the entire game. Just one. And what's funny about it is it was arguably the most dangerous chance they created in that 2nd half. What's even funnier is it flashed across the Juventus goal with no Man City player near it. The commentary team said someone should have been there. But my question is, how can you gamble for a crosses that had never happened before that one moment. What's the point of players like Doku or Grealish with these great dribbling skills but with no final ball or ability to score. A winger who dribbles with no end product is useless to me. Might as well play another striker upfront

Pep is the root problem this season. From his stubbornness in personnel (playing the same players over and over who can’t execute the position) to his tactics (refusing to adapt his tactics to the players he has to playing tactics that fail every game) to recruitment (refusing to increase the size of the squad even tho he knew we were playing more games this season). Love Pep, but he has to get back to basics and be adaptive and pragmatic like he was in the Treble season. This version of Pep is awful and City's performances are the proof

@@Denis-z6s I super love this comment. It's what I have been trying to explain to everyone. How can an entire squad who was shooting the lights out 4 months ago with an average of 7.5 rating performances all of a sudden become pathetic averaging 6 at best. It is not the manager, the players, the transfer business injuries etc. It's a slump and coz city reached a peak a 4 consec PL titles it will eventually fall. No team in history just kept on Winning. But people try to find other excuses for these results.

Talking about Manchester City and Liverpool in their most successful periods. Under Kenny Dalglish in the late 1980s, Liverpool played some of the best football seen in English football. That team and squad was very dynamic. They played with pace, power, skill, improvisation. Lots of one two combinations (give and go) one touch, goals from inside the box, outside the box. That Liverpool team mirrored the French team of 1982 to 1986 and the Dutch team of 1988. The won in lots of different ways. Now, this Manchester City team play a highly skilled game, highly technical but highly structured. Pep plans everything and you see it in their play. At their best they are hard to stop because they assemble the best players. However, I prefer the Liverpool method of the 1980s. I prefer the coaching team doing their homework, and bringing in players who were capable of making their own decisions on the pitch and not needing guidance of where to go and what to do. The Liverpool legends constantly reference they were given a structure (formation) but they can do what they want within the structure because they are trusted. The Liverpool structure was the high pressing (closing down) winning the ball back quick and hurting the opposition. Liverpool played the more stylish and dynamic football than this Manchester City team who kind of want to pass you to death and score the perfect goal every time.

That liverpool side lost two straight European finals to Juventus. The 85 Super Cup and the 85 European Cup final. Both in a 5 month span, as the Super Cup was held in January of 1985. Cabrini ran circles around Nichol, and Boniek put some daggers in the net.

@dalymufc You need to actually watch City matches much closer.

As Chelsea fan, Pep has been so successful for so long, Man City would be brainless to sack Pep at this moment even in this horrific run of form. Man City could get knocked out the UCL and finish mid-table this season and Pep's job will be secured. But NEXT season if this is still going on, then there's an argument to discuss his tenure's future.
