Fantastic work as always :) I don't live near the coast, but seaweed always freaked me out as a kid so it's nice to have it demystified a bit. God bless!

Was first found down here on the Isle of Wight and I think it’s spread all the way up to Scotland now. 😬

Great video! Don't remember seeing this seaweed along our Basque coast, but I'd love to learn more about native seaweeds

I’ll definitely be taking a look at some other species in the near future, I’ll make sure I include some recipes that can be made using species that are local to you 😀

Thanks for the video, I knew nothing about that invasive species of seaweed. You make your own wine? You should make a video of that too, I'd like to see how you do this.

I make my own wine and beer, I will definitely make a few hedgerow wines later on in the year and go through my process 😀 I’m by no means an expert but extremely enthusiastic haha

Been into foraging for many years now and just recently discovered your channel. Amazing quality of videos, and super informative, keep it up great work! Though I've never been costal foraging, as it's quite far from me in the midlands, I'm super interested in going. Are there any types of coastline that are really good for seaweed foraging; I'm thinking like east or west, pebbly or sandy etc and what is the best time of year to take a trip? Love to know your thoughts, amazing work mate:)

Welcome to the channel! It all depends on how far you’re willing to travel, but the Welsh coast is an amazing place to go coastal foraging. Check out @coastalforagingwithcraigev8447 if you haven’t already, Craig Evans runs brilliant courses if you’re looking for a guide 😀 I’d look for Rocky coastlines with nice lagoons and rockpools and be sure to check the water quality before you go foraging. Seaweed is best to gather from now until about May, like with lots of growing things it has a growth spurt as the light levels increase in spring and this tender new growth is delicious. I hope you’re having a good weekend 🌿

Hello! Not specifically, however I’m sure there is some information out there. If you search Google for ‘East Neuk Seaweeds’ there is a forager just up the coast from Edinburgh that specialises specifically in the species of that area. Might be worth dropping them an email 😀 Local knowledge is often the best knowledge in my opinion

So in the UK the majority of the seaweed you’ll find is edible, some of it is tastier than others! The only toxic seaweed is found in deeper water and you’ll very rarely come across it, but it’s best to learn a species like Pepper Dulse and target that rather than just going and having a nibble on whatever you find. It’s delicious 😀
