4.4 million dollars worth of steel tubing for 156,000 means we sold it for 3 and 1/2 pennies on the dollar. It would have made more sense to just scrap the steel. That's exactly what that company is going to do with it and they'll probably walk away with half a million. I wish I had a chance to bid on that auction. Who wouldn't have bid on that? It’s like that when they sell to preferred contractors. When they sell to anyone else, it’s not like that. Used Military vehicles always go to preferred contractors first, mostly private security or other “friendly” nations. Keep in mind, this is what we don’t leave in theater. These border wall contractors were standing by for months after the election and being paid millions to sit on it while Biden figured out how to get around the fact it was an executive order to finish so many hundreds more miles of the wall. So they waited, then the contractors finished their contracts (or were paid off the remainder), and when the materials began to wear in the desert, the administration brought in folks to say “if we don’t sell this, we can’t use it”. So, they had it declared used materials, and sold it to the preferred contractors at a reduced rate. When I got back from my first deployment, I heard they were offering used HMMWVs with 120k miles on their engines. Cost to civilians? 80k. Cost to contractors? 8-12k. That was for a light skinned no armor. Just an example of rules for thee and not for me from the Government. If Trump were smart, some of the first folks he’d go and replace are the IGs, because they have been the ones sitting on it while we witness whole scale theft and mismanagement of tax payer funds. I mean the IG department looking into missing Covid funds found that their own department had “misplaced” over 300m dollars….clean house.
