Parents should do their due diligence, of course. But we cannot be there monitoring their every action on a device. Some may state that we should just not give devices to our children. I would love that, but every school and higher education institution has their curriculum and tests on devices and laptops. That's how coaches and youth leaders communicate with the kids, also. Well then home school you say, and go into the trades. Electronic devices are required there, too. This is so much more insidious and pervasive than just removing their phones. (Our kids did not get phones until 16.) When you have tech companies who intentionally build algorithms for evil purposes, who build algorithms to stiffle free speech, and who build algorithms specifically that specifically target our children, that is criminal behavior and they should be held accountable. Actually accountable, not just called out. That apparently is never enough to change their behavior. Lip service is not a deterrent.

Parents should monitor what their children watch. My boys grew up in the 70's. "Mr. Roger's Neighborhood", "Electric Company", "Sesame Street", were allowed and Sat. morning cartoons were what they watched. They also got to watch what their father and I watched in the evenings.
