Yea, as a staunch liberal I agree. If the baby is born alive and the life of the mother is no longer at risk, a viable baby should not be aborted. Neither should the mother be expected to take care of the unwanted baby in actual cases of rape or incest. As a liberal, that means the government needs to step in to care for the baby until a suitable guardian can be found whether it's another family member or someone else. That is health care. However, it may be true some states have weak protections against born alive infanticide, but the federal Born Alive Infants Protection Act became law under President George Bush in 2002. So, it actually is illegal, along with state homicide laws, to allow or cause a born alive child to die in every state. Make existing law tougher, if necessary, but don't simply introduce legislation as a political stunt to bring a misleading abortion issue into the news cycle.

And this highlights just why there should not be abortions for normal viable babies after they can be born alive, without deformities. But a carefully handled surgical birth to give a baby every chance for life should be done even while trying to protect the life of the mother at that time. Protections should be in place for mothers whose babies are badly deformed or even have unformed brains. There are times when the life of the mother has to be protected from a very dangerous pregnancy too.

This is misleading information. Parents do not carry a baby to term only to at the last minute decide to abort it for no reason. These are babies that have been determined due to a physical abnormality or genetic abnormality aren’t going to live for long no matter what the hospital does. No matter what the baby isn’t just left on the table to die, it’s given care to ease its suffering as it passes on.
