The Gurkhas always take me back to the stories my Father would speak about when I was a youngster. He served alongside them in Burma during WW2, always praising them for their abilities and how proud he was to have known them. I said good-bye to him forty years ago, on his behalf I salute these young warriors .

Malaii asha cha they grow like Gurkhas before them and teach others like they did me in Derby and invite them in and take them to Nepal and look after them in their houses like a retired Royal Engineer did with me last year. Ive seen it, enjoyed it and found it harder than the UK and thats as a tourist although I put it down as a life experience and keep learning Nepali since I had never left the UK before and am 50 now. What a truly special bunch, willing to die and join us to make a better life. Amazing since others come to this country for a free ride yet these fight hard for years just to get to selection. Then when they get in do a job which risks their lives. Love them, they will love you and love the fact you love their motherland. Look around you, everywhere you see Nepalis they fly the flag of Nepal and the country they move to FACT. They respect their new country as much as their own. And if that isnt enough ask them for Nepali khana, their food is second to none. Ma Nepal miss garchu, Steve Dai

With an almost perfect pass rate, the British army could probably triple the size of the force recruited each year with no drop in those very high standards. Given their excellent combat history of about 200 years, I don't see a downside, especially when army recruiters in the wider British army are having problems reaching their quotas.
