My grandfather worked for JB Johnstone as a master cutter They had a full size dummy horse in the shop for the soldiers to sit on to fit their trousers

I really wish they would make beautiful uniforms like these for the emergency services. Police, Fire and Ambulance should all be able to proudly walk in parades just as much as our armed forces do.
@simongee89283 ай бұрын
Grandly decorated uniforms are certainly right for parades & displays, but for everyday work, practicality has to come first. 😊
@cornbeef3 ай бұрын
@@simongee8928 that's what I meant. They use to give police tunics but now they're only lent to them for special occasions. I think it's a shame that they're not given them to join in with parades

@@cornbeef It wasn't that many years ago that the Police wore a tunic for normal duty, the Metropolitan Police had smart white shirts worn open necked in summer without tunic, not the mid blue of other constabularies. The modern black shirts and high-vis looks awful. Fire Brigades wore normal uniform and put on protective gear en-route to a shout. Watch reruns of 'The Bill ' and 'London's Burning '.

@@tonys1636 I remember! I can understand he practical side of not wearing a tunic, but considering the emergency services are so important yet they're forgotten during remembrance services etc. It's a shame. They should be proud of their position and be able to turn up in their tunics and medals in my opinion, as should ambulance and fire
@tonys16363 ай бұрын
@@cornbeef The Police, Ambulance and Fire Services are represented at the Cenotaph and other services around the country, also at other Civic events in No.1 uniform but normally wearing just medal ribbons. As does the RNLI and HM Coastguard.

Wonderful that they still have the skills for such tailoring, and the people who have these skills. The country seems to be in a severe crisis after Brexit, which was a disaster. But their armed forces still look splendid in gala uniforms.
