They can be used to look at dogs, however you must attend the prerequisite 3 day residential training course, be medically fully deployable, passed fitness and weapon handling test in the previous 6 months and be in date for all other MATTS. Following the course you must be signed as proficient by an instructor who has attended the TTT course. There is currently no course for chaffinches, so this would likely be counter to the safe system of training and should therefore be avoided. This has been raised with the CoC.

That 8.59mm sniper rifle is capable of dropping targets at much further ranges than stated. A British Army sniper, in Afghan, shot and hit 2 confirmed enemy targets at the unbelievable range of 2, 245m so it's a decent bit of kit. The distance was confirmed by a laser range finder on a British Army Apache helicopter........ not bad, eh??

Also for up close coyotes sometimes they run up to you close in before you can sight in with rifle so want to carry my MP5 or a Short barreled Shotgun I have a AK 47 Russian 12 gauge shotgun approved to by the ATF to be shortened so thought that would work along with my 12 gauge silencer. I figure might as well use gear the soldiers use why reinvent the wheel whilst hunting coyotes :) Anyway this setup a shotgun for close in coyotes and a long gun for distance shooting is common in USA for coyote hunting so wondered if you military snipers do something similar in real life or just do a MP5 for close in? Keep up the good work like the video :)

When a government look at several companies for a new weapon, they aren't looking for the production line civilian model. The government has a bunch of demands for their new weapon. Those requirements lead companies to make special modifications to that weapon, modifications that may or may not be available for civilian use. When the government gets that weapon it is re-designated because it is a weapon specially modified for their needs.

@@disconnected._700 The SOP is to carry both weapons, however in Afghanistan it was common to just carry the sniper rifle and not bother with the SA80 due to the weight of kit already being carried. The new US Army (and soon USMC) sniper rifle is the BARRETT MRAD. Like the excellent British Accuracy International sniper rifles the MRAD is very accurate and has an easily removable trigger group for cleaning (and replacement, if necessary). For long range hunting here in the western US I use a 6.5 PRC cartridge in a Browning X-Bolr Pro bolt action rifle and a Bushnell 4.5 - 18 x 44 scope, FFP and illuminated G3 "Xmas tree" reticle. Also I carry 10X laser rangefinder W/ballistic hold read-out binoculars. Aso I shoot in long range rifle competition with a 6.5 Creedmor cartridge in a precision rifle. This gives me confidence for long range hunting shots that are always within the maximum 1,100 yards competition max distance.

Sander Bos I was the same way. I had a field uniform(s) and then the same for garrison. Whenever I’d buy a new set I’d number them so I’d always have the same set at a time. I hated seeing soldiers in a new top and faded bottoms or vice versa.

Because they (and their families) could become targets. Snipers also work in enemy territory, so they could be found out trying to get to or extract from a location.

How are those items required to be effective when snipers in ww2 didnt really have any of these things? They hit targets way out. I get these help manage calculations and such quicker but these are not required to be effective. I can guarantee there are American snipers that can out gun any sniper armed with all the extra equipment.

Sure, no one NEEDS a kestrel, or NEEDS a thermal add on, or NEEDS a laser rangefinder. But it makes the job more consistent, less guesswork and makes it easier and more accurate. You dont NEED a car to get to work. Theres people you could out run you. But a car is easier.

they are using the latest image intensifier tubes in the simrad mate so they are max spec at the moment, the general issue thermal is outdated the pixel pitch is 25um and the fov is narrow and tunneled through the pm2 scopes not the most effective or best product but still very much usable, new thermal units now can have 10um-15um or better bringing amazing clarity though not general issue

If your wanting to know the manufacturer of the equipment. Here's your list. The bolt rifle is an Accuracy International AX model chambered .338-Lapua magnum, made in UK. Not positive about the bipod. The scope is a Schmidt & Bender PM-2, with Mil-radian based adjustments, made in Germany. The spotting scope is a Leupold MK-4 model, made in USA. Not positive about the tripod. May be a Manfroto tripod. You must have a tripod for stability. The L-129 rifle is a 7.62-NATO chamber rifle made by Lewis Machine & Tool, made in the USA. The small rifle is the L-85, chambered in 5.56-NATO, made in the UK. The Glock 17 is a 9-mm semi-auto pistol, made in Austria. Binoculars are the Steiner M-22 model. If you live in the US you can buy everything shown except the L-85. About $18,000 - $28,000. Extra stuff would be a Kestral 5700 wind meter. Accuracy First ceramic ball scope level, or, a US Optics liquid bubble level. Badger Ordnance matched set scope rings. A Snipers Tools Company angle cosign indicator. Pelican rifle case to protect the rifles and optics. An laser thermometer to test chamber and ammunition temperature. A shooting mat of your choice. And a butt stock shooting pillow or sock.
