I am British. And proud to be so when times like this happen and our country support other countries. I really am proud of our men in the forces. They really are very knowledgeable and very good at this type of thing. We ourselves had to protect our own country from the Germans. As they tried to take over our country. England had lot of weapons and radio signals which we used to win the war. As the German submarines could not pick up on the signals between the English on England turf and the Brits over the other side of the sea. We had the spitfires also which took out so many German planes. As they were small and could manoeuvre through the Germans and shoot them down. Amazing. I love my country for how we are with other nations. And God save our queen.

Do you people really believe your rhetoric, there hasn't been one Russian bomber flown over Ukraine, there isnt any battleships sitting in the Black Sea destroying Odesa etc, the aircraft they are using are those at the end of their lives and their elite aircraft is still sitting in Russia, the Russian special forces and other highly trained personel and military equipment have not yet been used. They have not as yet used drone warfare. Do you honestly think Russia is going to leave itself defenceless after only a few weeks? Do you honestly think NATO does not know this? Russia chose a ground war so as not to decimate Ukraine keeping death and carnage to a minimum unlike NATO did in Belgrade, Lybia, Syria, Iraq - (where 100,000 innocent people were murdered in a 10 days) NATO being a defensive organisation therefore murdered these innocent women children and babies to defend themselves. Fly your little flags in your comments and believe Ukraine is triumphant if what you say if it makes you feel good. Better still get a uniform on and get yourself up to Mariupol and throw a few molotov cocktails at the Russian tanks and fight to the death like your leader told you to do.

The Skysabre really wont help with air defense for near-peer adversaries. It has a 25km+ range, so it's rather limited as it can't even target ballistic missiles. Most aircraft would be able to shoot long range cruise missiles from out of range and even if the missile is shot down, the carrier can keep returning until the SAM fails. The UK needs Aegis and the Sm-3/6 for hypersonic missiles/ICBMs or aircraft at longer ranges. No tests or studying needed as it's already a proven system. This would have seriously helped the type 45s which lack BM defense.

Which is essentially what the recent Strategic defence review hinted at. Also a heavy focus on many more part time trained reserves is healthy in many ways would help. They are very good at defending against what they were designed to defend against which is low radar cross section subsonic/barely super sonic projectiles/aircraft but they're useless against high super sonic projectiles/aircraft and hypersonic projectiles. A big part of why Russia's conventional army is so poor/outdated is because they've invested their resources into missile technologies. Despite all the hype, Russia knows she wouldn't stand a chance against NATO and so her strategy is missile based. It won't overcome the might of NATO but these systems are only going to work against her subsonic cruise missiles

According to British intelligence, Ukrainian forces have succeeded in recapturing towns and defensive positions from invading Russian forces up to 35 kilometers (22 miles) east of the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv. A report from the British Defense Ministry on Friday said Ukrainian troops were also likely to continue pushing back Russian forces on the northwestern axis from Kyiv toward the Hostomel Airfield, some 26 kilometers from the capital. It was captured by Russian forces on February 25 at the start of Moscow's invasion. Russian forces in the south of Ukraine were still seeking to circumvent the city of Mykolaiv as they try to move in on Odesa, with fierce Ukrainian resistance and supply issues impeding their progress, according to the report. A number of Russian military units have withdrawn behind the Russian border after suffering the loss of more than half their personnel, the Ukrainian general staff has said. According to Oleksiy Arestovych, a senior adviser to Ukrainian President Volodymr Zelenskyy, the front lines between Ukrainian and Russian troops have become "practically frozen." The general staff said Russian troops were continuing to blockade the large cities of Kharkiv and Sumy and also seemed to be preparing for a new offensive in Izyum in the Kharkiv region. The information cannot be independently verified. The number of people in Germany who are in favor of Ukraine joining the EU has risen by 16% since 2018, a YouGov survey has shown. Forty-six percent of those asked would now like to see Ukraine in the bloc. The survey also showed a clear reduction in the number of people opposed to the country's EU membership, with just 30% against compared with 47% in 2018. Other countries are showing similar trends, with 42% of people in France in favor of Ukraine's EU accession (2018: 22%), 60% in Spain and 45% in Italy. The percentage of those who are undecided remains fairly high in all the countries included in the survey at 24-29%. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has urged that his country be quickly accepted into the bloc amid Russia's invasion and has signed a formal application. But several EU countries, including Germany, have spoken out against fast-tracking Ukraine's bid for membership.

And I would imagine it could take down the jet you mentioned as the jets straight-line speed maybe fast but they dont fly flat out constantly.
