Hence, if you do find someone who got nabbed by them, you would go looking for them in normal police stations not wherever they took them. Also, if they're involved in something but don't look like police but are still armed, someone else might actually call the normal police to the scene and that might escalate pretty badly.

It's all proportional, northern Ireland has had a much high violence level, for obvious reasons, especially towards police. Even in the UK there's armed police in areas with more of a chance for violent crime. Go to London in the tourist areas, there's loads of armed officers. Prior to joining the army in 1972, I tried out for the Atomic Police. The MOD Police guarded certain MOD facilities, but I thought both were different. @@gunsnrosesforever100 Look I'm not the biggest fan of police here but that's total rubbish from no name. The majority of our police do not carry firearms simply because the overwhelming majority of the population do not have firearms. The majority of firearms that do exist are heavily regulated and licensed. Studies in the UK have shown that the UK population (generally) feels more unsafe when seeing officers with firearms. Rather, we have specially trained units to deal with firearm incidents when they rarely occur. Our standard police are trained incredibly well in de-escalation techniques that don't require guns.

@Yeshua Is Lord go and look at the way special force units clear rooms (SAS included) , their finger is ALWAYS straight and outside the trigger guard until the very moment they are firing at a confirmed target. These officers are either poorly trained or have forgotten the fundamentals. If you are seen with your finger on the trigger in a IPSC competition at any time other than engaging your target, you will be disqualified. The behaviour demonstrated by these officers is a negligent discharge waiting to happen.

Plus many factors play into the training of police units in the states again due the its diverse nature of people, income status and overall general satisfaction of living in a certain metropolitan, city, town, parish or community.
