No they’re not mate. They’re the elite of a bunch of Walter Mitty regiment wannabes. They join the police firearms because they haven’t the balls to join the military or simply aren’t good enough or fit enough. That’s not to say there aren’t former SC’s and Troopers in the role, because there are, but they’re the best of a bad lot. I worked with them at the Olympics and most were absolute cock wombles. Granted they weren’t CTSFO’s then, but at lot of the lads went on to become CTO’s

There are CTSFO hubs over the whole country staffed by county police officers who were ARV armed response who have taken the next step to CTSO. ARV deal with spontaneous incidents. CTSFO deal with planned incidents. Even ARV carry stun devices to search through buildings to save life through the 999.

Funny how the Police don't show the part where every time there is a terror attack, they get SAS to go in first. With this recent ND into an unarmed suspect, Armed Police have proven themselves incapable of using firearms effectively. My evidence? Well, the fact hundreds of Armed Police Officers have voluntarily handed in their licences. Obviously, this is one of two things: 1. A childish act of protest which breaks Policing standards set out by the College of Policing 2. They genuinely can't trust themselves with weapons, which is worrying Since striking as a copper isn't possible I'm going to go with the latter option. The Police should perhaps stop hiring wet behind the ear university students and instead hire former Armed Forces. It bewilders me how an Officer who's been in the force for 4+ Years is unable to act with the same discretion as an 18-year-old infanteer in Afghan.

Eye-witnesses saw Kaba try to ram officers with his car; 'unarmed' is an intellectually dishonest way of framing an individual that tried to use his vehicle as a weapon. And soldiers in Afghan were hardly held to the same level of accountability that a British Police Officer in 2023 is; they were allowed to do their jobs without the public hating them, top brass constantly trying to throw them under the bus, and the Government constantly looking to make examples of them.

Every single recent terrorist attack or attempted attack has been over in minutes thanks to how professional and well trained the armed cops are in this country. THEY are the first on scene, not the army. You have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about and I hope you’re embarrassed for being such a fool

And that’s why they’ll never be at the level of the RT’s CRW teams. The Reg do this day in day out, all day every day and use live ammo, these guys don’t. Their general job is as ARV’s / SFO’s and making arrests. Also, the speed in which the RT do it, is also far greater than that civibill are capable of doing. Yes these guys are initially trained at Hereford, but they almost play at this I.E. no live ammo, everything is slow slow slow and the teams are too large for a single entry point. They only train for this every so often too and only get to use these perishable skills every so often. That’s no good! If they’re going to take on this role for real, they need to be separated from general policing duties (GPD) and train train train at these drills, until they are SF capable. Getting the basics down, do a point they can do it in their sleep. Again, the RT do this day in day out. I know this isn’t about comparing the two, but there has to be a point where by, if someone is killed in a hostage situation, the incident is then still handed over to the army. As good as these guys may be, they simply don’t do it to the same level as the RT and unless they are separated from GPD, this will never happen. They also need to be trusted with live ammo and have that same professionalism that’s required for that level of trust. I can’t see that here. Now I don’t know the drills as they are nowadays, regarding the point in which there is a handover to the army, but I hope that’s not changed. These guys look the part, but they’re far from being as capable as the CRW wing. They can be if they’re allowed to be, but at the moment, they’re a long way off.

You don’t seem to know too much about the UKSF, this is only half of what they do they also do long range patrolling and tactical insertions from halo jumps and submarines, you’re only doing this if you happen to be on the counter terrorism team which you will definitely get rotated out of after some time, so really if you only want to do counter terrorism and don’t want to do long marches and multiple day reconnaissance missions the police is probably more appropriate for you
