First of all-your enthusiasm for growing Amaryllis is unmatched! Secondly, I think all of our crisper drawers are going to be full of bulbs at the appropriate time from here on out! I was not planning on growing any Amaryllis this year (*shame ☺️) but because of your inspiration, I got 2 bulbs after Christmas and they will be in bloom in a week or so! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Love your hair too 👍🏼💕

Garden Answer Laura just did a video drying flowers (one or two wks ago) and she ended up being happiest with her microwave flower press. I wonder if some flowers have such a high water content, that once you remove the water with drying, the remaining plant material isn't enough to hold together well? Not many flower stocks drip as much water when freshly cut like an amaryllis!

Hello Danielle! Just found 2 gorgeous red Amaryllis blooming in my sunporch and thought of you! Being in zone 6 with cold, dark & snowy weather, I feel like a race horse standing behind the gate at the Kentucky Derby, just waiting for the day I can get back out into my garden! It was great seeing all the various blooms you forced! The countdown is on!

Until I saw your love for amaryllis, I have never tried them. But this year was difficult, I bought several in November and even bought more after the Christmas season. They are in various stages of bloom and I will be maintaining them thru out the spring and summer so I can get them to rebloom next Christmas. Thank you and I love your videos.

Storing the bulbs in a dark place after being in the ground gives very good results, especially because when you water little or nothing, they develop more roots. I experienced it by chance with hyacinths and tulips and it was the best year, I even had them from December to February -March in a cold and totally dark then I took them outside and perfect

Your love of Amaryllis has inspired me so much, I have about 15-20 bulbs growing now, some have bloomed and some will bloom later, I so love the beauty of these flowers, I'm always looking for new varieties on the market to try. I have given away many to my family, hoping to inspire them to fall in love as I have ❤ There is nothing compared to the beautiful color blooming in the dead of winter, they feed me until the Spring 🌿

NEEDLESS to say, they ALL are beautiful! I can’t wait to see all your forced bulbs in bloom! I have a question. What does one do with bulbs if bought on sale now that aren’t chilled or planted? Daffodils are 50% off at my Lowes currently. I’m in zone 9b. If I store them will they keep until fall to plant?

I would try mircowaving them. You actually don't need a fancy flower press for the mircowave either. You can use a 9x2 baking dish. I would get smooth paper towels to place between them, the dotted ones leave marks. You mircowave in 30 intervals and the moisture that is leaving the paper towels will show you when it's done. You basically don't want much moisture left in the paper towel. I imagine it wont take long to press them, I've done begonia leaves and those go super fast compared to like a dahlia. The mircowave locks in color on everything i've tried.

I have loved watching your videos and they have given me inspiration for my garden makeover. I am actually doing videos of this on my channel, but they are not as high-quality as yours. Another good rule for bulbs in refrigerators is to have them in paper bags, like you did. I remember customers putting them in Ziploc bags and they would rot.

I love your beautiful Amaryllis 💖 I only purchased one this year, from Home Depot. I waited and waited, did everything right with planting and water. Finally I saw a small green leaf coming and then, it just stopped and grew no more. 😢 well, I’ve learned my lesson. This fall I’ll buy more than one and not from Home Depot. Hi: Just found your channel, and am so happy to see your growing situation is so much like ours, here in Tuscany, Italy. Ambitions sometimes can cloud the reality of what we can accomplish, but we keep trying new things and expanding the envelope. Amaryllis are top of the list for us, and we've just begun to see some availability locally in our garden centers. Buying online is not always a good option since many times the delivery is so delayed, the items arrive in poor shape. We do see Holland-grown bulbs now, of course...but I'd love to find some South American stock so it would force and bloom in winter....we'll keep up the faith, and many thanks for the great videos...can't wait to see how that pot full of pink beauties is going to preform!

I really appreciate that you give credit where credit is due for the people who inspired you! As an older person who has been involved in gardening for many decades, I frequently see projects being reproduced on YT channels with no credit or mention given as if that person came up with it all on their own. It is great when someone has the integrity to mention what or who inspired them and I appreciate that person even more!

I’ve tried drying them too and had no luck but, I accidentally broke a bloom off of the stem, I put it in water and noticed that it continued to look good after the water was gone. It occurred to me that maybe they dry well like hydrangeas do when you leave them in a bit of water until it dries up. I have one more about to bloom, I may try it. Thanks for sharing, I’ve got some tulips I’m going to force.

I have an amaryllis bulb from three years ago. First year bloomed just a couple of blooms, but HUGE & gorgeous! I had it outside over the summer, and the bulb grew to a gargantuan size. I was so looking forward to the blooms. It had started two babies besides. It set several buds, one bloomed, but then then what I take as red stripe or splotch hit it, and it was downhill from there. I couldn't get myself to destroy it last fall, so it's 'napping' yet. Do you have any idea what can be done to treat it?? I found your channel - you guessed it - searching several years ago on growing amaryllis! And I will be on the hunt for the double white amaryllis next. Thanks for everything!
