We're splitting the Ford tractor for maintenance and repairs. Finally got it apart and we can see what is going on with the clutch.

Thanks! Im gonna buy one of those. And this really showed me how much/little work is required for a clutch job.

Thanks. I searched for videos before I did the repair. Not much out there. Hopefully I will do some on the front 4x4 seals. Just need to source the parts first.

I have a 1984 1510. Parts are unreal on price. $325 for a water pump.

And now I know why to press the bearing out instead of pulling it. Thanks.

Nice video FYI the clutches on small compact tractors are dry so when it’s gonna sit for long periods of time keep the clutch engaged so it won’t rust and stick the newer tractor even have a pin to lock the clutch pedal down

Matt, thanks so much for posting these videos. I have one of these machines that I use all the time, and I just inherited another in a similar condition as yours, with all the same issues! I'll be splitting it and looking at my clutch components as well. I've got a page of notes already thanks to your hard work. Sub'd!

Thanks. Great machines. With little maintenance they seem to keep going. What models do you have? I have the 1700 and 1710.

@@rushedscheduledfun3963 I have an '82 1700 4x4; I swapped my bucket for a set of forks, put a cheap "quick hitch" on the 3pt, and use it as a log skidder and loader. My project that needs a clutch is also an '82 1700 4x4. I'm embarassed to admit I actually have a third one... an '80 1700 2wd. It came up on craigslist for cheap and I couldn't pass up a spare. I have a few other machines of different makes. My concerned family asks how many tractors I really need... I don't know the answer to that but it's certainly less than six.

@@JunkerChief Never can have enough. Most of my equipment starts out to fix and flip it. But then it works nice. I can always find a reason to keep it.

Hi. I can’t seem to find the second video and how you made out. I have a 1200 I may need to split. I learned a lot on this video. Thanks

Over all it was not that bad to do if you have the room. The hardest part was the backhoe and loader removal and install. Good luck

Your videos are a tremendous help, thanks. Wish I could see how you took off the 4 WD shaft. That's where I'm stuck. Afraid I'll mess up something. Other than that I'm ready to split the 1700 tractor.

It was not bad. Start in the back of the tractor and there is a coupling in the drive shaft. A lot of hydraulic/trans fluid comes out. FYI I took off more then needed. Good luck Let me know how it goes

There are some roll pins (spring pins) in the shaft couplers on my 1720. Remove the roll pins at the front and back of the driveshaft and slide the couplers to lower the driveshaft.

This was great--thanks for all the effort in posting this. I have a '92 1720 that is about to need a new clutch (PTO not disengaging properly). But the engine has a bum cylinder, I assume. It blows a lot of oily air out of the crankcase breather. But it's been like that for 15 years and still runs. It's a pretty tired tractor and I'm just wondering how much effort and $$ to put into it knowing the engine will fail someday.

Its always a gamble. When I bought the 1700 they said it was the 4x4 was the problem. Good luck

@@rushedscheduledfun3963 Thanks for the reply. It's funny, I've been thinking about your video and how I was struck by your calm, matter-of-fact approach to the task. If I did a video, it'd be full of swearing and have several spots where I"m just beating the tractor with my breaker bar. Thanks again for posting this--I know it's a lot of work!

Please advise me, 1 how did you drop your drive shaft? I have to do the same thing and I can't get the drive shaft to drop. 2 what did you use to drop the top bolt on the starter? It's a 19mm and mine are all to fat.
