I have a 1986 1710 and it is so handy for fire wood and snow and stone. We love it

I'm looking at a used but like new condition ford 1710 4x4 for working in the woods cutting firewood, dragging out cedar logs, brush cutting. Would you recommend this tractor to be up to these tasks?

I bought mine from the original owner. I've never used it for any heavy work. Just yard work and running a 6 foot finish mower. I'd say that's the biggest load I'd want to put on the PTO. I have to downshift for my steepest grades when I'm mowing in deep grass, because the thing bogs down really bad on the grassy hills. That's the extent of my experience with it. It's only a 26HP, 3 cylinder diesel tractor. However, the original owner is in the fire wood business and he gets his product from his place in the Adirondack Mountains. He'd been using my tractor at his camp for years, doing exactly the sort of work you're doing. He loved the 1710 and was pretty attached to it. He told me he felt bad when he let it go. But his business was growing, he was buying tons of brand new equipment, and he got a brand new, bigger John Deere tractor. His wife "convinced" him to sell the Ford 1710 in the process, saying he doesn't need two tractors. That's the only reason he sold it. I'd say that's an indication of how good these nice little tractors are! The Outsider channel on KZbin has used several old tractors in the woods. You might enjoy seeing that. kzbin.info Thank you for watching and commenting!
